We had spent most of the night hiding on top of Avari tower, and by the time the first glimpse of color hit the morning sky, I was feeling completely normal again.
We crept back down to his bed, and when I woke the following evening, he was still lying next to me, his blonde hair strewn about on the pillow and his eyes closed.
I stared at him, amazed at how even with his hair a mess and his body twisted in the strangest cockeyed position, he was still beautiful as he slept.
I couldn’t help myself. I reached up and brushed my fingertips over his cheek. I saw him shift and grin, and my heart melted.
“Taking advantage of a vulnerable man?” asked Rilian, his voice cracking from sleep.
He caught my wrist and brought my hand down to his lips, kissing my knuckle gently.
“I might be,“ I whispered with a boyish grin.
Rilian chuckled and pulled the covers up. “Come here, baby,” he whispered before pulling me into his open arms.
