Capítulo 57: The #1 professional duelist vs the main protagonist - 12

"I will go first." Aster declared confidently, reaching for his card.

He revealed it and it appeared to be Elemental Hero clayman.

"I summon Elemental Hero Clayman." Aster announced as the card burst into a shimmering light.

The fat piece of junk of a hero materialized on the field, crossing his arms and crouching defensively. This fatso had a defense power of 2000 points.

"With this my turn ends." Aster smiled.

????????????

"...What?" Gojo muttered to himself. "I woke up early this morning to this shit?"

Dark Magician Girl frowned as she was the one who heard him clearly.

"So it really is a true Hero deck, through and through," Bastion observed.

"And you seriously need glasses if you couldn't fact-check that from yesterday's broadcast," Gojo palms his face and inwardly groans.

/

"Awww yeah, my turn. I draw!" Jaden exclaimed, reaching out for his card.

"I play my spell card, Polymerization, and I'm fusing Elemental Hero Burstantrix and Avian from my hand to summon..." His duel disk beeped as Jaden sent the three cards to the graveyard. "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman!"

2100 ATK points

"A fusion right from the start!" Syrus exclaimed happily..

"Go Flame Wingman! Flame buck shot!" Jaden orders.

Flame Wingman leaps into the air and fires off a flamethrower destroying the Elemental Hero Clayman.

"When Elemental Hero Flame Wingman destroys a monster, you take damage equal to that monster's attack points," Jaden said excitedly.

Aster crossed his arms to block the projection of the attack from Flame Wingman's second strike. His life points dropped to 3200 LP.

Aster's life point dropped to 3200 LP.

"Next I'm going to set one card face down and call it a turn."

Chazz, sitting with his arms crossed, snorted. "That fool managed to land the first blow on the pro."

While everyone else was looking on with admiration, Gojo was silently stewing. He didn't like Jaden's response to Aster's first turn and couldn't help but internally monologue about it.

What's Jaden doing...? He could have ended the duel right there! Why set one face down?? What is he doing?! Hell, he could have summoned a normal monster and pulled out Fusion Destiny on top of that fusion summon and attacked for game. Gojo groaned. Oh no… Oh no… these two…

[These two are what?] Dark Magician Girl interrupted telepathically, slowly annoyed by Gojo's ongoing thoughts on the duel he felt "forced" to watch.

[Are going to stall the duel,] Gojo replied.

Dark Magician Girl responded by pulling on Gojo's hair, expressing her displeasure with his baby whining. Seriously, how did Gojo, this man-child, end up being the chosen one to save the world?

Gojo winced at the hair-pulling and shot Dark Magician Girl a glare. She merely smirked and crossed her arms, clearly satisfied with her small act.

[Not everyone can 'top deck' like you can.] she teased, patting his head.

[Jaden is literally HIM,] Gojo scoffed. [Just like Yugi Muto, he should have incredible luck on his side. He's the MAIN PROTAG.]

Dark Magician Girl, sitting on Gojo's shoulders, squeezed her thighs against his head, [And? Dueling isn't always about efficiency, you know?]

Gojo shrugged. [Maybe.]

It was Aster's turn now. His eyes widened just as much as his smirk when he drew his card and immediately played it.

"I play my spell card!" Aster declared, as a swirling image appeared on the field.

"This is…" Jaden's eyes widened at the sight.

It was Polymerization.

"Naturally, as a Hero deck user myself, I will also use Polymerization in my deck," Aster said with a smile. "I fuse my Avian and Burstinatrix in my hand to summon Elemental Hero Phoenix Enforcer!"

As Aster's Polymerization completed, a burst of energy coalesced on the field, materializing into Elemental Hero Phoenix Enforcer. It stood tall and imposing, with wings spread wide behind him.

2100 ATK points.

Jaden's eyes widened with excitement. "So this is the Phoenix Enforcer? That's awesome!"

"Go, Phoenix Enforcer! Destroy Elemental Hero Flamewingman!" Aster commanded, his voice filled with determination. "Phoenix Shoot!"

Elemental Hero Flamewingman countered with a fierce buck blast, their attacks colliding in a spectacular explosion. The force was immense, shattering the arena with a deafening roar, leaving only the Phoenix Enforcer standing as the smoke cleared.

"Both attacks are the same, but Phoenix Enforcer can't be destroyed in battle... Jaden is defenseless now." Alexis gasped in worry.

But her fears were unfounded as Jaden was still smiling.

"It's my turn," he said, drawing a card. "I play graceful charity. I draw three then discard two! Then I play Monster Reborn to bring back Elemental Hero Flamewingman!"

"But he won't be here for long," Jaden continued, "because I use Polymerization to fuse Elemental Hero Flamewingman and Elemental Hero Sparkman to summon..."

Another swirl of energy appeared on the field, combining Flamewingman and Sparkman.

"Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman!"

A brilliant light erupted from the fusion, revealing the powerful Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman. Jaden's confidence soared as he faced Aster.

"Shining Flare Wingman gains 300 attack points for every Elemental Hero in my graveyard," Jaden explained. "And with six heroes there, his attack points skyrocket to 4300!"

Aster's eyes narrowed, realizing the danger.

"Now I reveal my face-down card," Jaden declared, flipping it over. "Fiendish Chain! This trap card allows me to target your Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman and negate its special ability!"

Chains of dark energy shot out from the card, wrapping around Elemental Hero Phoenix Enforcer and rendering it powerless.

Jaden's smile widened. "Shining Flare Wingman, attack Phoenix Enforcer with Shining Flare!"

Shining Flare Wingman unleashed a powerful beam of light, aimed directly at Phoenix Enforcer. The impact was tremendous, and despite its formidable defenses, Phoenix Enforcer couldn't withstand the attack. It shattered into countless fragments, disappearing from the battlefield.

"But wait, there's more," Jaden continued confidently. "When Shining Flare Wingman destroys a monster, you take damage equal to its attack points!"

Aster winced as his life points dropped, the energy from the attack surging through him. The crowd watched in awe, captivated by the intensity of the duel.

"And that's game!"

Or it should have been.

Aster's life point: 100 LP.

Jaden's life point: 3000 LP.

Refusing to yield, Aster steadied himself and activated a quick-effect card from his hand: Destiny HERO - Dynatag. The card shielded him from battle damage once, but triggered a retaliatory effect, causing both players to suffer 1000 damage.

Starting with 3200 LP, Aster's life points dropped to 2200 LP. However, Shining Flare Wingman's effect kicked in, dealing an additional 2100 damage due to Phoenix Enforcer's attack points of 2100.

"That was close…" Aster muttered.

***

"What?! He's still standing?" Chazz exclaimed, rising from his seat in surprise. He hadn't expected Aster to find a way out of that.

"Amazing. So, this is the #1 professional duelist in the world…" Bastion mused. "To think he can even dodge a final blow like that."

"And it's the same card that Aster used to beat Zane with…" Alexis chimed in, clearly impressed.

"This is a whole different league compared to Gojo's dueling style," Syrus quipped.

"OY. What do you mean by that?"

***

Jaden couldn't believe Aster was still standing. A hint of sweat broke out on Jaden's forehead.

"Guess you're the number one pro for a reason," he admitted.

For hero users like Jaden and Aster, this duel was about more than just a game—it was a matter of pride. To them, each card played was a statement of skill and strategies for their hero. But to Gojo, who viewed it as just a card game, the significance might have been lost. Perhaps if he faced off against a dark magician user in a mirror match, then maybe he would begin to understand again.

Now, it was Aster's turn. "I draw!" Aster's eyes widened slightly, a smirk forming.

"I activate Pot of Greed! This spell card lets me draw two additional cards!"

Aster paused, his gaze lingering on the new cards in his hand. After a moment of contemplation, he declared confidently, "I will use Fusion Destiny!"

Jaden's eyes widened in anticipation as Aster proceeded. He watched closely as Aster placed the cards on the field, curiosity and excitement mixing within him.

"Fusion Destiny lets me Fusion Summon a monster from my Extra Deck using monsters from my hand, or deck, as Fusion Materials," Aster explained, his voice steady with confidence.

"Come forth, Destiny HERO - Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer!" Aster proclaimed proudly.

As Aster orchestrated the Fusion Summon, a fiery formidable warrior engulfed in flames materialized on the field in a blaze of light. Its presence alone shifted the dynamics of the duel, its strength palpable as it took its place before Aster.

2500 ATK points.

"Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer's effect activates! Your monsters lose 200 ATK for each HERO monster in my graveyard!" Aster continued. "So far, there are seven HERO monsters in my graveyard, reducing your Elemental HERO Shining Flare Wingman to 2900 ATK points."

"That's not all. I activate a monster effect from my graveyard!" Aster explained, closing his eyes with a smirk. "Destiny HERO - Dynatag!"

"Didn't he use that monster to negate battle damage and inflict 1000 damage to both himself and Jaden?" Bastion said in shock.

"To think there was another effect, and for it to be one in the graveyard..." Alexis trailed off.

"Jaden..." Syrus looked at Jaden with worry.

"He's got this in the bag," Tyranno scoffed, confidence in Jaden's abilities evident in his voice.

"By banishing Destiny HERO - Dynatag in my graveyard, I can activate its second ability. One of my Destiny HERO monsters I control gains 1000 ATK points until the end of your turn. But, of course, since a HERO monster left my graveyard, your monsters regain another 200 ATK points. Not that it matters anymore," Aster explained with a shrug.

Jaden gritted his teeth.

Destiny Hero, Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer - 3500 ATK points.

Destiny Hero Shining Flare Wingman - 3100 ATK points.

Aster's life points: 100

Jaden's life point: 3000

"But of course, that's not all I'm doing," Aster continued, his eyes narrowing with determination. "I will now activate two monster effects in my graveyard."

"Destiny HERO - Denier and Destiny HERO - Malicious!" he revealed, holding up the two cards. "When there is a Destiny HERO monster on my side of the field, I can Special Summon Denier from the graveyard. And by banishing Malicious from my graveyard, I can Special Summon another Malicious from my deck."

In an instant, three monsters appeared on Aster's side of the field, making Jaden feel incredibly tense.

Aster's voice rang with authority as he continued, "Now, I will sacrifice Malicious and Denier to summon Elemental HERO Bladedge!"

In a flash of light, the two monsters vanished, and a new warrior appeared on the field, his blade glinting menacingly, and he was glowing bright.

Elemental Hero Bladege - 2600 ATK points.

Jaden's eyes widened in shock at the turn of events.

"No way!" he exclaimed.

The audience rose from their seats, their eyes wide with astonishment. Even Gojo stood up, unable to hide his surprise.

Aster, maintaining his confident demeanor, addressed Jaden. "You're not the only one who can make a comeback, Jaden.

"Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer! Go, destroy Jaden's Shining Flare Wingman!" Aster commanded.

As Aster's Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer's attack obliterated Jaden's last line of defense, Elemental HERO Shining Flare Wingman, a sense of urgency washed over Jaden. He gritted his teeth, realizing he was now vulnerable.

"Now, Elemental HERO Bladedge, attack Jaden directly!" Aster declared with confidence, his tone resonating with the certainty of imminent victory.

Bladedge surged forward, its once-gleaming gold blade turning pitch black in a sudden ominous shift as it slashed through the air with deadly precision. The attack struck Jaden directly, sending him staggering back with the force of the blow. His Life Points plummeted to 0.

Jaden felt the pressure mounting, an unfamiliar sensation washing over him. With a solemn expression, he closed his eyes, acknowledging defeat in this duel. As he did, a strange phenomenon enveloped Jaden, unseen to the eyes that also dug into his eyes. A malevolent white energy, tinged with darkness, attempted to influence his thoughts and emotions but failed and could only blind him.

"Jaden!!!" Syrus, Alexis, Bastion, Chazz, and Tyranno yelled in unison.

"Meh," Gojo muttered, initially dismissive. You win some, you lose some.

That was when Jaden's deck fell from his duel disk. Gojo took notice of Jaden's unusual reaction and became more serious. What is this? Jaden's deck falling out from his duel disk that is usually tightly fit? Kaiba Corp wouldn't make such a mistake in duel disk technology.

"..." Gojo turned to look back at Aster, his expression now filled with concern. Magic that even I can't see, huh…

Aster walked off the duel platform without a word. He was likely surprised he almost lost the duel early on and had to go all out, not letting Jaden make another move.

"Well," Vice Chancellor Jean said, his voice and bald head ass carrying authority, "Winner! Aster! We will take a small break before we commence the duel between Aster and Gojo."

The duelists and spectators alike welcomed the momentary break to regroup. Aster and Gojo exchanged nods, silently acknowledging the need for a brief pause. Alexis and the rest of the group swiftly moved towards Jaden's side, concern etched on their faces.
