The well-fortified city stood against the opposing army of the Holy Order of Alta led by the renowned Paladin Sir Thalandir. Two layers of walls, moats around the city filled with water, the uneven terrain, and the coastal position of the city made the soldiers of Sir Thalandir anxious. Furthermore, the letter that Sir Thalandir wrote and sent with a messenger pigeon to Admiral Niketas, asking for a fleet to blockade and attack the city from the sea to break the concentration of the enemy forces from the land walls to the sea walls proved impossible as the combined enemy fleet numbered as many as five times the number of the ships that Admiral Niketas had and he needed his full power to prevail against the numerically superior enemy.
