 Madeline awoke with a gasp as her eyes snapped open. She was staring at the ceiling with her breathing coming off short. Trying to stabilize the rapid beating of her heart, she closed her eyes and took several deep breaths before opening her eyes once more to study the unfamiliar room she was in.

The thick curtains were closed, encompassing the room with a shadowy darkness that made her panic within. If her memories aren't deceiving her, she was supposed to be taking a walk with Isabella, but then she stole a quick look at the mysterious graveyard, and when she planned on leaving, someone covered her nose with a handkerchief, and she blacked out after that.

Remembering this, Madeline immediately realized the gravity of her situation as every other thought washed away from her unsettling heart.
