A noise comes to him in his subconscious. David, in a deep sleep once again hears the sound, and he struggles to rise to the surface of sleep. Fighting to come awake, hearing but not knowing where it’s coming from or what it is.

Adele stirs beside him, and suddenly both are wide awake, the sound of terrified chickens breaking through the darkness of their bedroom, splitting the still of the night with sounds of terror.

He falls out of bed, hands shaking as he tries to light the gas lamp. The only light is from the full moon now heading towards the other side of the earth and falling from its position in the night sky. It is just after 3 am in the morning, and it sounds as if the gates of hell have been opened.
