A crazy suggestion

Cody pulled me aside, making a suggestion that I thought was preposterous.

/"You have to be kidding me./" I rubbed my forehead in frustration.

/"It’s perfect. Think about it. We fake date. Marta gets jealous. Then boom, she goes out with me./"

/"Marta is a lesbian./"

/"What?/" His body went rigid.

/"Lesbian as in she likes chicks, not dicks./" My comment took him aback.

He backed up and sat down as I stood there.

/"What is with everyone wanting to fake date me? Am I so horrible that people won’t date me for real?/"

He looked at me. /"I would, but I’m not into you like that. You’re not my type./"

I realized that a guy told me that I wasn’t good enough for anyone. I turned and walked away from Cody. His comment had confirmed my ideas.

I walked to class and took a seat next to Brandon. /"Hey, Brandon./"

Brandon didn’t acknowledge me.
