Chapter Forty-One

Kia is hunting while I walk into a gothic-styled castle that is covered in snow. The stone is white, blending in with the landscape. Each window and opening has a spell to block out the harsh weather and keep the palace’s heat from escaping. I enter the palace with my wings wrapped around me, providing some warmth. There is a reason Valkyrie do not like snow. I am wearing a cloak, thick leggings, and a long sleeve, but it’s still freezing.

The palace opens to a richly decorated room. It’s decorated with furs, books, and portraits of Silas and his siblings. I know Miyla is not here, since she’s still getting treatment at Alier’s hospital ward. A few workers are walking around, but they’re ignoring me since I’m not a vampire. I’m okay with that. I retract my wings, grateful for some warmth.
