Sunlight seemed to invade Hela's eyes.
She couldn't even hide her happy smile, she couldn't bear to look at books anymore.
She had never been so happy to see grass and bushes.
That feeling of rewarding was very different from all the others she had ever experienced.
It was a sweet, childlike feeling that made her want to go around celebrating.
Yes, she felt a little embarrassed to feel that kind of thing, but it was a unique sensation.
Hela stared at the girl and she wanted to hug her, heavens that had been very close to torture.
She couldn't put into words the feeling of relief and gratitude she had inside her.
"Thank you so much… What's your name?"
Athena briefly stared at Hela and for a few moments, hundredths or perhaps milliseconds, time stopped.
Hela's smile was bright and beautiful and full of sympathy.
Exactly as Athena had imagined... No, it was much better in person.
Her face grew warm and she smiled gently trying to hide how disconcerted she was with a simple smile, she also felt satisfied with Hela's contagious happiness.
Getting out of that library wasn't a big deal for her, but for anyone who didn't live on Mount Olympus it would mean a lot of hardship.
Allowances were a way to help, but only the gods could offer them.
Something that was not possible for everyone.
Well, Hela's case was a little more complicated, she was a very important goddess of her own people and that was already more than enough for her to be able to get a free pass for a dialogue with any god of Olympus.
But that falsified permission only proved that they were trying to make her give up following the purpose of her visit.
"My name is Athena..."
Hela didn't hide her surprise and her smile faded a bit, she had been so careless. "Athena?! Sorry... I didn't recognize you..."
Athena didn't care about that and in a way she felt amused. "Don't mind it Hela, we were never introduced..."
Hela felt her face hot, that was a little embarrassing.
But she tried to pretend normalcy and nodded a little resigned.
Athena was kind and gentle which naturally lessened any stress Hela had over her little mistake. "... Well, welcome to my domain... I hope it's not as torturous for you as it was Apollo's library."
Hela smiled, she still felt a bit awkward about that library.
She didn't know what to think about being tricked into someone pretending to be Apollo, she didn't have much contact with gods in general.
The only one she routinely lived with was Hermes, but the rest she had only seen on the day of her trial.
Her life has always boiled down to living between Niflheim and Asgard, not one step more or less.
Her first visit to Mount Olympus she was wrapped in shackles and chains.
It's not like she really knows their faces.
And now it seemed a little complicated to just trust that girl.
Athena seemed to know perfectly well what was going on in Hela's mind.
Yes, that really was Athena and she made sure of it. "Don't trust just anyone... Some gods aren't interested in whether you're strong or not, they'll want to destroy you just the same."
Athena was the goddess of battle strategies, civilization, wisdom, the arts, justice, skill, inspiration, strength and mathematics... Well, she was good at almost everything.
Her biggest motivation in life was to seek justice and ensure that nothing went as expected.
Helping Hela was the least she could do according to what she understood to be right.
She felt satisfied, even if her heart skipped a few beats when realizing that their gazes unpretentiously met.
And so an internal battle began between Athena and her own reason.
Even if she pretended that nothing strange was lurking in her heart, it just seemed like a blatant lie.
Either way, right was just the only option and her feelings shouldn't be relevant.
Taking any uncertainty out of her mind.
Athena snapped her fingers and armor appeared on her body, in addition to a beautiful golden sword.
The sword was big and heavy and it was always necessary to use her two hands to ensure that she wielded the sword without any kind of problem.
But despite everything Athena dominated her like no one else.
Many armies could give up any battle by the mere sound of the sword being dragged across the ground.
The drag of metal over rough ground could give anyone nightmares for weeks.
That was a divine item and it would never break, at least no one would know how it would be possible to break it.
But beyond its durability, only Athena herself could touch it and leave unharmed.
Carefully she offered her weapon to Hela.
If the sword was real, only Athena could hold it and any outsider who dared to have the sword in hand would be branded as a symbol of Athena.
Hela believed in that girl, but she had also believed in Apollo and had been deceived.
She sighed a little irritated, that situation had gotten a little more out of control than she wanted.
She should now walk on eggshells in fear that the gods would pretend to be others?!
She felt pitiful and was forced to take a deep breath to clear her mind.
Despite her mind full of misgivings, she took the sword for herself and almost immediately felt the burn appear in her palm.
Athena always found that amusing, because usually people took her sword to somehow prove themselves worthy to use it.
Which was simply impossible.
But seeing Hela suffering was a little pitiful... Athena didn't want the woman to get hurt, quite the contrary.
Hela, when touching the sword, felt her hand close, even though the desire to release it was growing, she could not.
It was in many ways nerve-racking not to be able to drop the weapon and Athena immediately intervened by taking the sword for herself.
The Greek goddess was filled with guilt. "Sorry... There's electricity in her, whoever holds her ends up getting a shock and can't let go... Let me see your hand..."
It was obvious that Hela's hand was bruised and most likely bearing Athena's divine mark.
Athena even tried to take the other's hand to check the situation, but she was miserably brushed aside.
Hela wasn't comfortable around people and Athena's slightly stunned expression made her even more complicated, somehow it didn't feel right.
"Do not worry, everything is fine..."
Athena nodded a little awkwardly, already figuring that she had overdone it and all she could do was regret it deep in her heart.
She didn't want to scare Hela. "Well… You're here for a reason, right?!"
Helen nodded. "I'm here to see Aphrodite."
Athena couldn't hide her surprise, Aphrodite...she felt a little confused in her heart.
Hadn't Hela gotten married?! So why would she be after Aphrodite?!
Despite the fact that Hela did not notice Athena, she was present throughout the trial in the palace of Zeus.
As well as casually hearing the stories about Hermes helping a Norse goddess.
Athena knew a lot about Hela.
She wanted to be able to help and make the stay more comfortable.
Athena briefly watched the once sunny sky slowly fall into darkness.
The day was over and there was no point in heading into unknown territory in the middle of the night.
"Can you take me somewhere where I can spend the night?"
Hela asked referring specifically to a hotel or anything like that, she couldn't say it existed on Mount Olympus, but it made sense that it did.
After all, where could the gods sleep?!
Athena smiled, feeling a little funny.
"Don't worry about it... We have a visitor camp and it's currently empty, you should be able to rest comfortably until dawn..."
Athena had a calm and smooth temperament, very different from Apollo... Or at least who she believed him to be.
The girl really seemed like a good and easy to trust person, Hela was pleased to know that she would at least have a night's rest.
But it's still almost halfway to Aphrodite.
Who knew walking into a library could be so troublesome?!
It didn't take long for them to arrive at the camp.
There were at least 20 houses lined up next to each other, filled with flowers.
The moonlight hit the houses and a vivid white reflected.
"Currently they are unused, but it's always crowded when we have an event at the palace of Zeus..."
Helen nodded. "A big event like my trial?"
Athena did not expect that answer and stared at Hela for a few moments until she finally agreed. "Yes... When you were arrested, many traveled almost all over the world to get here and watch your trial."
"I understand..."
It wasn't uncommon for gods to need to get around by walking or using some conventional means of transport, not all of them were able to simply snap their fingers and in seconds appear somewhere else.
Hela sighed a little thoughtfully, but finally she could rest.
