"Uh-huh..."
Kaminari was too tired to be mad and turned to look at the pair of mother and daughter
The Mother who happened to feel his gaze, turned around at him as she shook her head, implying she doesn't have one as well.
'I'm not even surprised'
Not one of them had any communication device on them, it's as if the world doesn't want them to have it.
'I can't blame them since I don't... well, forgot mine as well
Kaminari just gave up and accepted the situation, he could always borrow someone's phone once they arrive at the shelter anyway.
Keukekeke!
A goblin suddenly jumped off the roof on their right and lunged toward Wataru, snapping Kaminari out of his thoughts.
"...!?"
Wataru stood there petrified in shock and Kaminari was about to save him when an arrow pierced the goblin's head, killing it.
Swish~
Wataru turned to look at the person who shot the arrow and was about to thank him or her when he finally saw his savior.
It was a middle-aged man in a dark-green hooded cloak with a crossbow in his hand and a very serious face, looking coldly at him.
He gulped due to the pressure that was coming off from the man and swallowed the words he was about to say as he felt his back cold from the sweat.
"You okay?"
Kaminari nonchalantly came up to him and patted his shoulder which calmed down Wataru.
"A-Ah! Yes, young master!"
"Hmm..."
Kaminari nodded as he looked around for the Crossbow guy and saw him ahead of the group, it seems he went back to his duty after that.
Not long after, Hiromoto came up to them with an apologetic look.
"I'm very sorry about our leader. He's not much of a talker, you see"
"It's fine"
Kaminari shrugged and didn't care too much. Although he was planning to thank him earlier, it seems the man doesn't want it so he won't bother him then.
After that little incident, the group continued to head toward the shelter while killing goblins on the way. As they were walking around, they suddenly heard a call for help.
"Please Help!"
The team of Hunters immediately responded and sprinted toward the origin of the scream. As for Kaminari and his group, they followed behind.
Not even a minute, they arrived at the location and saw a destroyed building.
"Over there!"
Hiromoto pointed at a group of civilians who were stuck in the rubbles of the buildings, shouting for help.
The Hunters quickly ran up and started clearing up the rubbles as they drag the trapped and injured civilians out in the open.
And Kaminari and his group didn't just sit there and watch, they also helped out in the rescue operation.
"Are you okay, sir?"
"Y-Yes... cough... I'm f-fine"
Hiromoto checked up on each of the civilians, applying basic first aid to them. As for the ones who had more serious injuries, the healer of the team was receiving them.
It took a while before the rescue operation was completed. Luckily there were only a few goblins that attacked which made the whole operation simpler.
And as for the rescued civilians, they couldn't just leave them be and so they decided to take them.
Now the group has expanded and with that comes problems, it could attract monsters due to the size of the group and with the limited number of hunters, protecting would be a tough job.
Keekkeekeke!!
Keekkkeeke!
And just like that, a crowd of goblins was heading toward them in the distance which caused panic and anxiety among the civilians.
"You! Calm them down!"
The Crossbow guy pointed at a young man in the group with an impatient look.
"Me?"
Kaminari had a confused expression when he was called out and was about to refute him when the Crossbow guy had already run out to the battlefield.
"This..."
•••
The Crossbow guy moved and with a signal of his hand, his team members shortly followed behind.
"Shield Formation!"
Hearing those words, Hiromoto and one other person moved forward and stood in front of the team as they took out the large shields at their backs.
"Sasha!"
"Got it!"
Not waiting for the goblins to arrive, their mage or Sasha instantly pointed her hand at the rampaging vermins and cast a spell.
"Fireball"
A ball of fire manifested and whizzed in the air, hitting the goblins and burning them to death. Though it only managed to reduce the number of monsters by one-fifth, meaning there was still a lot that was left.
"Sasha! Another One!"
"Wait! I'm still casting it!!"
Hearing this, the Crossbow guy loaded his crossbow and started sniping the ones on the roof.
"Hiromoto! Daiki! Buy time for Sasha!"
"Understood/ Yes sir!"
The two tensed their muscles and grip their shields in front of them, preparing to brace themselves for the collision.
"Shogo! Prepare to heal them at any time!"
Shogo nodded gravely and focus his eyes on the tanks, preparing to heal them immediately once there is any signs of injuries.
"They're coming!"
Just after those words were said, a surge of goblins collided with the shields which made Hiromoto and Daiki groan from the impact.
"Fireball!"
Sasha launched another spell and threw out a ball of fire at the goblins who were pushing against the Tanks, burning them to ashes.
This move of hers managed to buy some time for the Tanks to take a breather and observe the goblins.
Keukkekuek!?
Keekkeekek!!
Seeing the goblins panic due to the flames, the two tanks look at each other and nodded as they each took out a mace from their waist.
With a stomp of their feet, they charged and bashed at the unsuspecting goblins.
Bam!
Not wasting the chance that they were stunned, they raised their mace and smashed them down on the monster's heads.
Kekeuk!?
Greenish blood and organs spurted out everywhere, every time they swung their mace. Making the scene quite terrifying to watch.
Though their momentum didn't last long as the goblins managed to find their bearings and started to push back and finally injure them, albeit small and minor.
"Heal!"
Shogo who was on standby, instantly cast a healing spell at the two the moment he saw them get injured.
With a new profound vigor, the tanks smiled and started to push against the goblins with enormous force.
Keukkekek?!
The goblins who were pushing against the tanks, started to lose morale as they saw more and more of their companions get slaughtered.
Seeing the goblins in panic and anxious state, the Crossbow guy took this chance to inflict even more damage to their morale.
"Lock on!"
The Crossbow guy started scanning multiple goblins and for every goblin he eyed, a red virtual target image appeared above them.
Exactly ten goblins were targetted by his skill and without hesitation, he pointed his crossbow at the sky and launched an arrow that magically multiplied in the air.
Swish~ Swish~
Ten arrows were duplicated, corresponding to the number of targets as all of them aimed and rained down at the targetted goblins, piercing their heads and killing them instantly.
Keukkeke?!
Keukkkeke!
As if that wasn't enough, Sasha launched another spell which manifested a ball of fire and whizzed in the air, engulfing the goblins in flames.
"Nice shot, Sasha!"
Hiromoto beamed a smile and wipe the sweat that formed on his forehead due to the heat that was emitting from the burning goblins.
"Hiromoto! Concentrate!'
The Crossbow guy glared at him when he saw a goblin manage to sneakily pass by Hiromoto side of defenses.
"Ah- Shit, sorry!"
Hiromoto realized his mistake and showed an apologetic smile as he turned his head around and bashed the goblin that managed to sneak by.
Because of his action, the defense got sloppy and a few goblins used that chance to pass him.
"Damn! Taunt!!"
Hiromoto activated a skill that aggroed the goblins including the ones that passed by him.
"Come at me!"
Hiromoto bang his shield with his mace as the sound of a metallic drum resounded throughout the area.
KEUKKEUEKKE!!
KEKEKEEKEK!
Hiromoto skill worked a little too well as almost all goblins were madly charging at him like a moth, looking at a lamp.
"Oh shi- Keuk!?"
Even as a D-rank Tanker, this many goblins were enough to overwhelm him. Luckily, Daiki was there to help him relieve the pressure.
"Taunt!!"
Daiki slammed his mace at his shield with enormous force as the sound of a metallic drum echoed even louder than Hiromoto did.
As expected, half of the goblins that were attacking Hiromoto went toward Daiki.
"I got you, bud"
"Thanks!"
"No problemo"
With their teamwork, they started to slowly take advantage of the battlefield as the goblin's number reduced bit by bit.
And Kaminari who was watching the Hunters efficiently hunt the monster with ease made him impressed.
'So, this is how professional Hunters work'
Of course, Kaminari wasn't just watching without doing anything. He however was gathering the panicked civilians and calming them down with some pep talks or something.
"Wataru, take care of the children"
"Y-Yes, young master!"
Wataru flinched and hurriedly nodded as he went toward the teenagers and kids who were having a hard time and started to comfort them.
'As expected, he's good with kids'
Kaminari nodded satisfied and continued to focus on the role he was given.
He was glad he didn't have to deal with that as he wasn't good at dealing with kids. They're just too energetic and erratic for him to handle.
Bang!
And just as everyone thought the situation was under control, reality slap them in their faces as the ground suddenly trembled.
Bang! Bang!
A heavy and dull sound echoed in the air, seemingly sounding like a stomp as the ground quaked with every step.
This naturally attracted the attention of the Hunters. Unfortunately, they were too busy dealing with the goblins to care about it.
Groooowl!!
A familiar loud and hoarse cry of a monster resounded which woke up the civilians from their dazed state as they turned their heads behind them and felt despair.
They saw in the distance a large and muscular bluish-skinned monster walking toward them with goblins on its shoulder as well as beside it.
"I-It's here!? The hobgoblin is here!!"
The once calm crowd turned back to their panic and anxious state as they all shouted in despair while some cried tears of helplessness.
Seeing this, the hunters who were fighting frowned and started to kill the goblins at a much faster rate.
"This day just keeps getting better and better..."
Kaminari sneered annoyingly seeing the familiar hobgoblin and cursed at the world in his mind.
Kekekekeke!
As if the hobgoblin in the distance saw the despair on the human's faces, it cackled in laughter out of amusement.
It wanted to see more of their despair so it grab a handful of goblins and threw them at the panicked group.
Swoosh~
The goblins successfully landed amid the crowd. Although, some goblins were splattered on the ground and died due to the impact of the throw.
"Kyaaaahh!"
"M-Monsters!"
Kaminari felt a sense of deja vu watching this scene and couldn't help but remember the event that happened at that time when the hobgoblin first showed up.
Just as he was about to help out, a sharp whistle suddenly echoed in the air as an arrow flew and pierced a goblin that was about to kill one of the civilians.
"Hm?"
Kaminari turned his head to his left and saw a middle-aged man in a green hooded cloak with a crossbow in his hand, aiming at the goblins.
It seems the Crossbow guy left the battlefield to save the civilians, leaving his other members to deal with the rampaging goblins.
"Kid, I know that you can fight. So help me out here for a bit"
The Crossbow guy glanced at Kaminari solemnly while not forgetting to snipe a few goblins to death.
"Sure, why not?"
"Hm, I'll take care of that hobgoblin and you take care of the goblins. How does that sound?"
"That sounds just fine to me"
Cracking his neck, Kaminari equipped his magic brass knuckles and instantly moved toward the goblins while the Crossbow guy headed at the hobgoblin.
Kekekeeke?
Although the hobgoblin saw a human coming toward him, it didn't care and kept chucking out goblins at the crowd of humans while laughing maniacally.
As for Kaminari, he was killing the goblins with ease and didn't notice that he started to become faster and stronger as time passes by.
"Wataru! Gather the people and moved them away from here!"
"W-What about the goblins, young master?!"
"I'll deal with them, so go!"
Wataru nodded gravely and started to drag the civilians away from the fight. The mother and daughter also helped out in evacuating others away including the children.
Kekekeeke??
A goblin wanted to chase the fleeing humans but was abruptly interrupted by a kick on its stomach.
"You're not going anywhere, you vermin"
The goblin was furious at the human's words and cried out for reinforcement.
KEEKKEUKE!!
Hearing the cry, four goblins suddenly lunged at Kaminari from all sides with their dulled and ragged sword in their hands.
This made Kaminari feel another deja vu due to the situation, it was the same experience earlier except there were four now that were attacking him.
Swish! Swish!
The goblins raised their swords and swung them at him, thinking there was no way for the human to escape from their attacks.
Unfortunately, their hopes were shattered as Kaminari moved erratically and smoothly dodged their swords.
Swish~ Swish~
Kaminari was like a leaf falling from a tree, guided by the flow of the air as no swords of them managed to graze him at all.
Keukekeuk?!
Kekekekeek?
Kaminari smiled at the confused faces of the goblins and chuckled amusingly.
What he had just done was use the Ryuji family movement technique, the "Sugiyuku Sora" or the passing sky.
It is a technique that focuses on the movement of the air and going along with it, becoming one with the wind.
This was the technique that made his father famous as he was later given the title "The Wind Blade" of the Ryuji Clan.
Moving unto the battle...
Kaminari sprinted at the goblins and easily maneuver his way, passing them and launching a heavy punch at each of their necks.
Crack! Crack!
The four goblins couldn't react to his movement and had their necks broken as they died instantly.
Keukekek!?
The goblin that was kicked earlier wanted to run and call for more help after seeing its companion die so effortlessly. Unfortunately, Kaminari had already arrived in front of it and broken his neck as well.
After taking care of them, he shortly moved and started taking care of the goblins that were chasing after the humans.
It was at this time that he noticed that there weren't any more goblins that were thrown at them.
'That Crossbow guy must have already taken the attention of the hobgoblin'
Kaminari sighed in relief and was about to continue harvesting the goblin's lives when a loud crashing sound resounded from the direction of the hobgoblin.
"What?"
Kaminari turned his head in the direction of the hobgoblin and turned pale at the sight of what he saw.
