Capítulo 33: Chapter 33: Sleepover

The last room on the tour was Silas’s bedroom. It was the biggest room on the third floor. There was a balcony and even a spiral staircase that went up to a tower. The house really did have secret rooms, not that he showed me a bunch, but he did show me one in the study.

I know seniors have the option of going home every day, and school was only a twenty-minute drive from Deadwood, so I had to ask. “Why do you stay at the dorms when you have this?” I gestured around the bedroom.

A California King four-poster bed with a canopy. It was all dark wood, black curtains, and black bedding—for whatever reason, that didn’t surprise me. It seemed to be his favorite color, like me.

He rolled his eyes but smiled. “I grew up in it. I guess I’m just used to it. I needed a change of scenery. I like being in the dorms. I mean, this house is huge, and you would think such a big place would come with a lot of privacy but let’s be real. . . four siblings.”
