Alain had never faced a predicament this huge. Being a complete novice in the matters of business management, all he knew was that Matthews' Boulangerie was in deep, deep trouble.

One by one, the remaining managers poured into the CEO's office with their own problems. All of a sudden, everyone became incompetent puppets, unable to solve their internal as well as external problems. They even started to blame each other for the company's problem, all the while sneaking glances at Alain, secretly asking for his support. The kind of support that Alain unfortunately was not able to give.

Eventually, the board of directors arrived. These charismatic-looking, elder executives used to treat Alain very well in the past. Some even came to visit their house and showered them with lavish gifts.

Right now, they all looked very different. Deep lines were etched on their faces, and their lips were pulled into tight lines. Alain could not help but swallow at their sight.
