"The old lady died from prolonged depression and heartbreak," Charles, Ryan's subordinate at White Chapel explained to him the previous day. "It has nothing to do with the person who gave her the news. She was bound to find out sooner or later. In my opinion, sooner is better. Otherwise, she will be in an anguished state for a long, long time."

Ryan fixed his cuff links and stared at the mirror that refused to reflect his form.

As a doctor, Ryan knew that it was by no means his fault. Nevertheless, he had the feeling that he disappointed Aiden a second time.
