Alain did not expect that kind of response to his question. Having repeated the lie again and again for years in preparation for taking Aiden's place in the Caldwell family, Alain quickly came up with a lie.
"Oh, is that... Is that mine? Sorry, I forgot about it. It has been such a long time."
Alain wanted to reach out to touch the scarf, but Ryan subtly moved it out of his reach.
Alain bit into his lower lip.
He should have known it. Such a hideous, tasteless scarf could only belong to Aiden.
Ryan stared at Alain for a while before he hugged the scarf to his chest again and closed his eyes.
"Thank you, please leave the tray and go."
Ryan seemed to be upset that Alain did not recognize the scarf. What was so important about the ugly scarf??? Alain had prettier, softer, and more expensive scarves!
If Ryan wanted to be upset about a scarf, at least pick one that was worth it!
Alain set the tray on a small circular table just next to the coffin.
