Capítulo 14: Keith's First Subordinate
"So you are telling me, that you agree to become my subordinate?"
Keith asked Dell for clarification.
Without any hesitation, Dell immediately answered Keith.
"Yes, boss Keith. When I saw you defeat Raymond without allowing him to fight back, I realize that there would be someone like me who would offer to be your subordinate and I felt that I could no longer wait for tomorrow, or else you would no longer need my insubordination."
"At that time, when you beat up the school's gang leader, I felt that you were destined for greatness. You can think of it as an intuition or a delusion of mine but I truly think so."
Seeing that Dell genuinely wanted to become his subordinate, Keith nodded his head at Dell.
"Good. I will accept you as my subordinate."
Noticing Dell's willingness to become his subordinate, how could Keith decline Dell Kline's insubordination?
In Keith's young master manual, obtaining a useful tool man was always welcome as long as they wouldn't betray him that quickly.
Therefore, he would be stupid to not accept Dell's insubordination when Dell was useful to him.
Although Keith had expected that Dell would become his subordinate, he didn't expect that it would be this fast.
When he had exited the cafeteria and returned to the boy's locker room to change his clothes into sports attire for basketball class, Keith saw that Dell was waiting for him in the locker room.
After a few exchanges which led to Dell agreeing to become Keith's subordinate, Keith accepted Dell's insubordination after he noticed that Dell wasn't forced to become his subordinate.
If Dell was forced to become his subordinate, then there would be two possibilities.
The first one was that Dell was bullied to the point that Dell would seek Keith's asylum.
The second one would be Raymond or Raymond's subordinates threatening Dell to become Keith's subordinate so that they could use Dell to spy on Keith's actions.
But since he noticed that Dell wasn't forced to become his subordinate, Keith no longer thought about that since what mattered was that Dell wanted to become his subordinate without anyone forcing Dell to become his subordinate.
After accepting Dell as his subordinate, Keith gave Dell his first task.
"Dell, gather as much information you can get from the popular students in Fredrick College especially those who shouldn't be offended, and create a list about it. Send it to me by email."
Hearing Keith mentioned the phrases "popular students" and "shouldn't be offended" in one sentence, Dell's mood turned sour for a second.
'Haven't you offended the student that ranked first in that list?'
Although Keith offended the school gang leader who was considered the "most popular student that shouldn't be offended", Dell knew that wasn't what Keith meant.
Since Keith had already offended Raymond, then he was of course excluded from the list of people that shouldn't be offended. Dell had already discovered the hidden meaning within Keith's words and he discovered that Keith was warier towards the students who had deep backgrounds but low presence.
When Keith emphasized the phrase "shouldn't be offended", Dell already thought of some students but as Keith ordered him, he would compile it in a list via email.
"What about the deadline, boss?"
Hearing Dell's question, Keith immediately answered, "There is no deadline. You send me an email every day about the information you gathered and don't forget to include remarks if it's just a rumor or you aren't certain that the information is true."
Nodding his head, Dell answered, "Okay, boss. Do you have any other commands?"
"For now, no. But if you think it's necessary, create a list of those who had bullied you. I will deal with them when my preparations are complete."
As Dell's boss, Keith wouldn't allow anyone who bullied Dell to get away with it. If only he retained his young master status after his transmigration, Keith would have already yelled "are you courting death?" to Raymond as well as dealt with Dell's bullies immediately.
Keith was arrogant and prideful but he was never reckless and stupid. He planned to deal with Raymond and Dell's bullies after his preparations were complete.
Dell's reverence and loyalty towards Keith improved when he found out that Keith cared about him. He was already satisfied in seeking Keith's asylum but to think that Keith offered to deal with his bullies.
'Sure enough, I was right that I wouldn't regret becoming Keith's subordinate.'
Dell didn't act hypocritical and refused Keith's benevolence and instead——
"Thanks, boss!"
Dell accepted since he knew that Keith wanted to help him. It would be an insult to Keith if he rejected his offer especially if it was for his own good.
Waving his hand as if it was just trivial matters, Keith didn't shy away from Dell's compliment, "Welcome."
After their conversation ended, Keith had already worn his sports attire as well as Dell. Since both of them were classmates, they knew that it was time for their basketball class.
With that in mind, Keith and Dell headed to the school gymnasium.
