Capítulo 14: A Vampire Encounter

"You shouldn't be around this part of the premises."

The surprising voice made Gloria gasp in amazement as it broke her stream of thought. She pulled her head back and gazed through the black hair that covered half of her face, still lying on the grass with her hands and bare knees touching the moist grass.

Her gaze shifted to the origin. A tall, young man stood at the far end of the meadow with his hands in the pockets of his joggers and his head inclined to one side, looking intently at her.

"Gosh!" She clamored, "Are you here to murder or what?"

Miss, do you not see that it is listed on the board as one of the prohibited areas?

What prohibitions are you alluding to? Gloria stumbled a little as she stood up and mumbled, "And-and who are you?" as she felt numbness in her calf.

She struggled to ignore the creeping sensation she felt in her feet as she looked down and waved her right foot in the air.

"There," he warned her, "be careful."

His voice sounded closer than earlier, and she felt his hand securely hold her from stumbling down on the grass. The sudden contact of his had her swat his hand away out of reflex as soon as she was steadily on her feet.

She apologized as soon as she realized the man had only tried to help her and thanked him.

"It was all out of reflex," she said with an apologetic smile, and she saw him nod his head.

"Are you alright?" She heard him question in a worried tone.

He extended his hands to her and put them on her shoulders as he stood next to her. Her wavering gaze immediately shifted up into his dark red eyes. As soon as they settled on them she heard herself cry out in shock and panic.

She began to scream, "You're a vampire," but was silenced by his big hand covering her mouth. As she made an effort to escape from him, the rest of her sentences became muddled.

"Shh!"

He warned her not to speak as he took a step back and shushed her.

Gloria nodded her head vigorously with wide eyes.

Her entire body trembled with fear. Her jaws were not as securely grasped by the hands that had been clenched to prevent her from shouting. She appeared to be a scared little scapegoat as her eyes widened in fear.

A chilly shudder rushed down her spine at the stranger's generous gesture as soon as she felt his icy, gentle thumb brush away the tears that had unbeknownst to her slipped down her cheeks. Gloria felt her heartbeats quicken further and further.

She made an attempt to get away from him but didn't know at what point the man's grasp encircled her.

'I've got to get away from him.' thought Gloria.

Red flags shouted and were waved in all directions regardless of time. She, however, was unable to take her gaze off of him for some reason. They were such seductive and mesmerizing eyes.

"Miss. Gloria!"

Fortunately, a recognizable voice separated them both, much to her relief.

Bryan. Bryan had called her.

Gloria wriggled free of him with relief, seizing the chance to finish getting her shoes done. She sprinted and rushed up the stairs out of terror, not even pausing to knot the lace properly before hugging her employee. The sudden gesture caused Bryan to turn rather bewildered.

"Be blessed in the name of the mighty Lord, my Savior!" She pushed him into the hospital hallways and brought him toward the emergency ward after further baffling him with the compliments she had made and didn't bother to clarify.

Before she could leave the area, though, she cast a fleeting glance behind her at the man who was still standing where he had been earlier without moving.

He was grinning and staring directly into her with his eyes. However, she didn't bother to think about it for an extended amount of time before rushing and dragging a perplexed Bryan behind her.

"Hmm... wasn't that the same boy whom I spoke to?" pondered Christon as he rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

The grasses absorb the moment, letting people feel, see, and appreciate the light of the day by giving the day's inhabitants the necessary amount of heat as the sky descends into a dove-colored gray and whispers the sweetest of recollections, comforting the day's light.

"Mmm..."

Alicia pulled her hands up and down in a beggarly gesture while tossing and turning in her bed and wailing angrily. Sweat dripped from her body in beads all over. There were such uncomfortable frown lines. Trying to remove whatever was there, she curled her toes while fist-pushing her palm over the bedsheet.

As if struck by the thunderbolt, her eyes opened, flexing her limbs in shock. There was liquid in them and around her entire body, too.

Her nostrils flared wide open, whizzing air in and out, and all that met her skin was the warm blanket and the day heat.

With much effort, she sat upright and took a deep breath as she had her eyes closed, trying to concentrate on her present.

"Phew! Such a strange dream? Felt so real."

Alicia removed the blanket while shaking her head to try to get rid of the restless sensations it had given her all over.

She wanted to stand, but for the moment, her legs gave in to gravity and were shaky and weak. She blinked, the blurriness fading and the surroundings becoming crisper.

She could feel the air's warmth rising, snatching what little chill she had inside and letting it spill out into the heat and sweat.

While cradling her heavy, aching head and mustering what little power she still had, Alicia crossed toward the room's door while tying a bandana around her head.

The distance felt like miles as I walked toward the restroom. She had to drudge herself into the little, roomy toilet while writhing in agony.

"WHIRRR!"

"WHIRRR"

A large sound rumbled through the whole house, startling the spirit in Alicia and awakening her drowsy self.
