Capítulo 8: Newly Transferred Cop

As if sensing her burning gaze, the man in black snapped his head toward her direction, hitching her breath. An international gasp left her lips. His raven black hair swished back and forth, falling over the black sunglasses he wore. He brushed it back and looked through his glasses. She was sure his gaze was on her.

The cops dispersed away making way for him as if he was an alpha to the clan. Man, he was so colossal. He had to be a minimum of six-feet-six at least. She could not take her off of him. His long legs which were covered in leather took long strides into the cafe through the smashed door. He had to bend his neck down given that he was tall and big. That being the reason, she found her cafe kinda small for a person like him.

Wait a minute.

What was she doing, measuring him with their cafe? Shouldn't she be thinking of the incidents that took place a few hours before? Shouldn't she be in a mourning mess, worrying dead for the loss of her dear friend, a member of their cafe?

But all she could do was stare at him. At his face. At those pair of eyes that were hidden under his shades. He had steel-toed shit-kicker boots on which probably reached three or four inches above his ankle, and she felt like he moved as if he was a predator right toward her.

Alicia craned her neck to look up at his face. Goddamn, he was drop-dead gorgeous. His jaw was a sharp straight shot of bone, his full lips, the hollows under his cheeks casting an unworldly look. The black sunglasses he wore wraparound lit his well-carved face perfectly. It made him look like a devil who jumped out the hell's gate.

Right when she thought that was all about his looks, he took off his glasses. As if all that unworldly look would not have given him away his menace.

She glimpsed right into his onyx-like eyes that glanced right into her grey ones. Her eyes widened, turning her once dreamy expression into a furious one.

What the...

The second who pushed her down on the ground in front of the printer shop early this morning. The one who stopped to glance at her but didn't care to approach her aid or the least to ask for his forgiveness. Not an ounce of sorry full expression did she sense in those cold eyes at that time. He just shook his head and left just like that.

And what now? The nerve he had to stand in front of her shamelessly. She curled her fist in anger. She was not a girl who would lose her temper too quickly. She was the type who'd hold onto her patience, but that too... to a certain point, so she stayed put. The cops were here.

Alicia' gazed all around the cafe and had her neck jacked back meeting the man's steady gaze. He came to stand in front of her, left with a decent gap between them.

One of the cops who stood beside Mr. Trevorrow, came walking toward the man and whispered something into his ears. The man rubbed his sharp jaw as his gaze fell on the lifeless rogue's body.

"Tch!," she heard him click his tongue and saw his lips twitch to a side annoyingly with a hum. The cop stepped back immediately, fear crawling in him. The poor cop could feel sweat trickle down his spine at the sight of his annoyance. Confused, Alicia glanced at the two men.

Obviously, the man in black was not ordinary. After all, not everyone could order the cops. If they really could, then they must be higher in status than the cops who were present in her cafe observing the crime scene.

"Call upon the witnesses," he ordered the cops. His voice was neither high nor low, deep and serious. He had a sliver accent, but she could not place it.

Alicia stepped forward blocking the cops with her little body.

"You can't meet them," she glared at the man as she stood in front of the cops, "Not now. They are in no state to speak."

"That, I'm capable of deciding it, Miss. You'd better clear the path, while I'm being nice," The cops who stood in front of her gave her a pleading look as if to indicate that it was wiser if she did let them do as per his saying. Clenching her teeth hard, she had no choice but to let them pass her.

The two cops went forward and disappeared behind the wooden brown door.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Alicia tapped her feet restlessly as she waited for them to come out of the room. She could hear the faded voices of the cops trying to convince them as she stood nearby the door. The rest of the cops proceeded on discussing whatever she paid no heed to with that cocky guy. She wished Mr. Trovorrow was the one handling the case. He was pretty polite and had a way of handling gentlemanly. She thought as she clenched her jaw. Her eyes sent glaring daggers at the man who had his back. She found herself cursing at him, but then as she came out of her cursing daze, she straightened up her gaze and saw him now turned facing her with a sinister look as if he could read her mind. As if he knew she was more than cursing him. They were looking at each other intensely for so long that the air in the cafe turned tenser and tenser until the brown wooden door creaked open only to break it free. The rest of the cops, including Mr. Trovorrow, was relieved to their heart's content. The man was yet to visit their department after his transfer, yet they could guess he was not some sort of an easy guy chosen as their leader. Beads of sweat formed on the cops' foreheads at the thought of their upcoming days. All they wished for was for their earlier leader to take his position back.

"Adri!!!"
