“As I’ve said Mrs. Peterson, we don’t know. I can only assume it was something utterly filthy and inappropriate.”
“How can you be so sure?”
“It was in a foreign language, Mrs. Peterson. Why else would someone be speaking in another language, unless they were up to no good?”
“Because it’s their language?” I asked.
The principal seemed taken aback. Like she’d never considered such a thing before.
“Well yes, I suppose.”
“Let me get this straight. You called me down here from work because my kids, as well as one of their friends, were speaking in a language you didn’t understand?”
“Well, yes, I suppose. Now that you put it that way—”
“You sound completely bigoted and insane?” I asked.
“Now I wouldn’t say that.”
“No, I suppose you wouldn’t. We’re often blind to our own faults.”
“This needs to be addressed, Mrs. Petterson.”
