Chapter 256: Trouble Comes Smashing In

We were already jogging around the room when the rooster crowed. A call we were both used to enough to stop using the headphones. Ellis seemed to think it was funny which I could understand.
The living room was empty when we got down there, ready for some heavy training. Luke wasn’t there though.
“That’s strange, Ellis said.
Luke was usually as predictable as a clock.
“Maybe he’s outside,” I suggested.
“Good idea.”
We ventured out into the misty morning, glad we opted to wear our fleece. Luke was nowhere to be seen.
“We’re on vacation,” I observed. “Maybe he’s giving us a break.”
“Makes sense. Do you want to go for a run anyway?’
“Of course.”
Remembering everything we’d been told, we kept pace with each other, running toward the dawning day.
