Soon after Daemon left, Valarissa was alone. The maids returned with hot water and her meal. Under their care, Valarissa took a hot bath, changed into spare clothes she had brought, and had her meal.
Leaving the castle, she headed towards her dragon, Qyraxis. With the magical bond between them, Valarissa didn't have to wait long before she saw a large black shadow approaching. Outside the castle walls, Qyraxis landed smoothly, expressing hunger and a desire for a meal.
Valarissa didn't hesitate as another pile of dead bulls was stacked for him.
Patting the satisfied Qyraxis, Valarissa went back, as she needed to select a suitable place to mark the space node. She didn't have to search around, as by the time she returned, Daemon was already waiting for her. He informed her that he had selected a suitable location and was ready to take her with him.
Leaving Dragonstone Castle, Valarissa and Daemon made their way through the small town, navigating streets filled with smallfocks, merchants, knights, and more, in their carrage.
Soon, they left the crowded areas and the dock, traveling west to a large warehouse-like building near the edge of the island, with one side facing the sea. The building was close to the dock, making it easy to transfer goods to the ships.
Daemon pointed to some more locations near the building, indicating vacant land. He explained his plan to build more storage buildings, and each location he pointed out was part of this plan.
Valarissa marked each location without hesitation. She didn't want to travel to Dragonstone Island anytime soon, as she would be busy with all the work in King's Landing. After marking each location and conducting some trials—since it was her first time doing this—she found that only the products cultivated in the space could be transferred through the marks. Neither she nor anyone else could enter or exit through them.
She explained that she wouldn't start transferring the goods now, as King's Landing had already started work, and she needed goods immediately. Waiting for this roundabout method was not an option, so she decided to start from the next month.
Her uncle agreed, as he also needed time to make preparations such as infrastructure, ships, and a crew for his new fake merchant group.
With everything settled, they returned to Dragonstone Castle. Ready to leave the island, Valarissa and Daemon arrived near Qyraxis. He had already finished his meal and lay down, relaxing.
Approaching her dragon, Daemon stopped a distance away, not entirely trusting Valarissa's ability to control Qyraxis. However, he wasn't mistaken, as Qyraxis was obedient to Valarissa's commands in normal times. If the dragon were angry, there was a certain chance it would ignore Valarissa's orders.
Coming close to the dragon, Valarissa realized she had forgotten above the dragon saddle. Riding such a large dragon without a saddle could be physically exhausting.
It can be seen from the show itself even riding Vhagar who smaller that her Qyraxis was task for Aemond even with a Dragon saddle on so it can't be seen how difficult it would be for Valarissa.
However, she couldn't waste time here, and she decided to make one upon her return to King's Landing. With that decision, she approached Qyraxis, using her arms to hold onto the spikes and uneven structure of the scales to climb onto the dragon's back.
Once seated, she held onto the larger spikes tightly, making sure not to fall off, before ordering Qyraxis to fly. The dragon roared, announcing its departure, and rushed forward, slowly flapping its wings to ascend into the air.
Soon, the dragon soared higher and higher, hiding its figure among the clouds as it flew in the direction of King's Landing leaving dragonstone island that was it's home for hundreds of years.
Qyraxis, a marvel of engineering, cut through the air with its large black dragon frame and wingspan wider than the average noble lord's house. Valarissa, young and daring, sat astride her trusty new companion, feeling a thrill of anticipation course through her veins.
Their destination was Kingslanding, the fabled city where the legend of the once mighty dragon Balerion ruled the skies, and House Targaryen held dominion. However, the journey ahead was no easy feat. Thick and ominous clouds surrounded them, and the wind whistled through Valarissa's hair, threatening to unseat her. Leaning forward, she gripped the dragon's spikes harness tightly as they pierced through the clouds, revealing the vast expanse of the open sky above and the deep blue sea below.
The sun's warmth offered relief from the chill of the clouds. Qyraxis seemed to sense Valarissa's slight discomfort, slowing down and causing the wind to grow gentler. Valarissa relaxed into the rhythm of the dragon's wings, passing over rolling hills and the settlement of Drift Mark, the seat of House Velaryon.
She didn't stop, having no plans to visit House Velaryon at least for now. They continued their journey, the air growing warmer, and the shimmering sea coming into view. Flying low over the ocean, skimming the waves with their leathery wings, the salt tang in the air was intoxicating. Valarissa leaned forward, feeling the exhilaration of freedom as Qyraxis surged forward with renewed vigor.
They passed over a pod of creatures resembling dolphins with horns on their foreheads, leaping and playing in their wake, their sleek bodies shining in the sun.
As they sailed across the sea, she suddenly spotted ships in the distance – at least four of them. Despite the considerable distance, a sense of familiarity washed over her.
Curious, she ordered Qyraxis to fly lower towards the ships. As the gap closed, she realized why they seemed familiar – these were Targaryen warships. It dawned on her that they were likely sent by her father, perhaps overreacting and worried about her safety, to escort her back and possibly apprehend her uncle Deamon for abducting Valarissa.
As the massive dragon neared, the Targaryen warships slowed down, perhaps taken aback by the imposing presence approaching them.
