Alex and Meredith went down the stairs of Helena's house, the home owner right behind them. As they arrived to the living room, where Alice read Caroline a book, Helena moved to straighten the back of Alex's hair, getting on her tiptoes to reach the top of his head.
"I mean, are you sure you don't want us to go with you?" Meredith asked.
"We could go with you." Helena nodded. "Mer's got the day off and I've already asked Arizona to do my rounds for me."
"No, I'm fine. I'll just need a second."
"You need people. It's good to show them you have people." The blond tried, as Helena straightened their friend's tie. "You don't wanna look like some lone-wolf assailant with no friends."
"Look, all they're doing is setting a trial date. It'll take like ten minutes. The security line will take longer." He told Meredith, then turning to Helena. "Stop fussing."
At that, she lifted her hands, almost pouting. "Fine, sorry."
"If you're sure, fine." Meredith told him. "Good luck."
"Girls?" Helena called out. "Come say bye to uncle Alex."
At that, the two of them stood up from the couch, their small feet thudding on the floor, as they ran towards him. As Alex crouched down, they almost made him fall with the impact of their hug, making the man chuckle.
——
"Hi." Helena smiled at Amelia, both of them in the ER. "Good morning."
"Morning." Amelia smiled back, pressing a kiss to her lips. "You know, I still get jittery at doing this in front of everyone."
"Good jittery?" Helena asked, moving to help her girlfriend tie her trauma gown.
"Always." She turned around to say.
"Incoming! Any second, MVC." April let out, moving to tie her gown. "Amelia, Helena, kid with head trauma. Also, dad with abdominal issues."
"Right behind you." Amelia let out, jogging behind the redhead to the ambulance bay.
As she grabbed gloves to put on, Helena followed the other women, arriving near the boy, as he let out. "It was like a rollercoaster!"
"Alright, Robbie. I'm Dr. Shepherd and this is Dr. Campos." The neurosurgeon introduced, moving to check the scalp laceration, as Helena checked his pupillary response.
"Where's my dad? I got to ask him how fast we were going." He let out, making Helena look to the ambulance that came into the bay.
"Looks like he's coming in right behind you. Is your head hurting, Robbie?" The peds surgeon asked.
"Barely. Can I ask him?"
"I'm a minute, we're gonna check you out first." Amelia let out, the couple rolling him into the hospital.
——
Later, in the trauma room, Amelia checked Robbie's head, as Helena checked his vitals.
"We passed a bunch of cars, and we kept going faster and faster! But I bet we taught that jerk who cut us off a lesson." The twelve year old let out, Helena sharing a look with Amelia, as the older woman did his neuro exam.
"Follow my finger with your eyes, please." She requested, they commenting. "That is quite a cut you're got there, Robbie. Does it hurt?"
"I can take it." He let out. "Is my dad ok? Cause I should probably check on him. I mean, he's my dad."
"I'll tell you what, Robbie." Helena let out, as she took off her used gloves. "I'll go check if you can see your dad while you get that cut looked at, ok?"
——
Helena sat with Maggie and Alex at lunch, eating her sandwich, as the man next to her barely chewed his salad.
After staring for a moment, her nose slightly scrunched up, Maggie let out. "You're not every chewing."
"I'm hungry, no time. Waiting on biopsy results." He let out.
"At least have some water with that." Helena passed him his water bottle, as he took a sip.
"Did Pierce tell you about her new favorite resident?" Arizona asked, sitting down by them and taking a sip of her soda.
"I can't operate, so I don't care." Alex shrugged.
With a smack to his arm, Helena let out. "Well, I do. We have a new resident?"
"I mean, technically, it's an old resident." Arizona told her. "Leah, ."
As Helena widened her eyes a bit, Alex asked. "She's back?"
"I love her. Really great suture techniques, steady hands." Maggie shared.
At that, Helena shared a look with Arizona, the corners of her mouth curling up as they both tried not to laugh.
"Hey. How are you?" Maggie asked, as Amelia sat down.
"Good. Got a kid who was in a car crash, though." The neurosurgeon told them, seating down of the other side of Helena. Under the table, Helena gently bumped her leg against hers, as a greeting.
"Can Webber really rehire her?" Arizona asked. "I mean, I am on the board."
"What is the problem? We needed a new resident, she's a good one." Maggie shrugged.
"Robbins slept with her." Alex told the cardio surgeon.
"So did Alex!" Arizona hurried to accuse.
"If you go there, be careful. She gets attached." The man advised.
"And then she may or may not make harassment allegations out of spite, which we all know is the main problem here." Helena raised a brow, taking a bite out of her apple. "I mean, I'm all for making rules to keep interns and residents safe, but she blamed Callie for making her nervous and making her drill into a patient's leg, when she didn't even know what had happened at that point."
