Chapter 6: Across the Line
Holly Adams POV:
I sat behind the wheel of an unmarked police cruiser. Bored and annoyed. Bored because nothing had happened yet. And annoyed because my Bitch-Queen of a Sergeant/cousin was sharing the car with me.
Sam watched through a pair of binoculars as a truck pulled into the parking lot of the warehouse we were watching. She put them down with a frustrated sigh once she saw it wasn’t the truck we were waiting for.
“This is a waste of time,” Sam told me. “That so-called ‘friend’ of yours is stringing us along, Constable.”
“We still have another half-hour before it’s supposed to be here,” I reminded her. “It will come. Why would Andy lie?”
Sam’s lips twisted. “Because he’s already told his boss and gotten this drop off moved,” she told me. “It’s probably on the other side of town, which means those nine women are going to be lost, and we’ll be the one responsible for letting it happen.” She glared at me. “That’s the royal ‘we,’ Constable.”
