As the antelope charged, they left behind trailing tails of fire through the air that burned the termites around them as they sprinted horns first towards their habitat's intruders. Valentina was the one most heavily targeted as she was the closest, but plenty of the beasts ran straight past her and towards the others as well.
It would be nice to say that the vampiress was able to react fast enough to stop them from getting by her, but that was simply unrealistic. The antelope were far too plentiful and far too fast to be stopped by one person and so only a third could be blocked by Valentina. Long whip like tendrils of blood sprouted from the vampiress' back, looking somewhere between strange alien wings and a sea anemone, but even as those tendrils grew and formed a net to ensnare the flaming monsters, only nine beasts were able to be caught in the vampiress' bloody web.
Sorry for the delay. This month was going so well as well but then I suddenly took over a weak off. The reasoning for that was a combination of things: being burned out and overwhelmed as well as having a bit of issues irl and having a bit of a prolonged anxiety attack. Don't worry, while I'm still tired and will likely always be a bit of an anxious wreck, I should be fine and I look forward to getting back to uploding (though likely at a reduced schedule similar to the three chapters per week I did last month.)
I wasn't entirely happy with how this chapter came out and I might return to revise it in the future, but even so, I love writing and, I always look forward to sharing what I make with others. I don't want to hurt my health because of it though, so I apologise again if my uploads are irregular.
Nonetheless, with gloomy stuff out of the way I wanted to mention that there was a sudden surge of new readers and, while the number of readers I have is still relatively low, I love getting to share my work with you and it makes me so happy to have you enjoy my work. In the week I was gone, we passed 1000 collections and that makes me super duper happy! Thank you for reading, supporting, and making writing all the more enjoyable. And as always, I hope you're having a wondefful day!
