Capítulo 56: Saki Strikes Back

-Hito-

Hito woke up in the morning, as the digital alarm clock woke him up, he slowly stood up from his bed stretching his arms above, and let out a big yawn.

He went directly to the bathroom, still half-asleep. In the sink he washed his face with cold water, now that he's fully awake, he looked at the bathroom mirror and he saw behind him was a hooded person.

"What the f-" He almost screamed, however, he realized who this person behind him was.

It was Caster, who he made contact with yesterday and became his servant, putting his right hand on his chest where the heart was located. He gave her a stink eye. "Please don't western horror me."

"What?" Caster tilted her head in confusion, as she didn't know what he was talking about.

"Nevermind, just don't do it again." He let out a sigh and said. "So, what are you doing here in the bathroom anyway?"

"Oh, because I made this place my workshop," Caster stated.

"....What?" He may be clueless about the magi society in general, but he wasn't ignorant to know what's a workshop, which is why he couldn't help but look at his servant in disbelief.

"Is there a problem..?"

His jaw dropped from his mouth and answered incredulously. "A problem..? Of course, there's a problem! Of all the rooms that you could have chosen in this house, why the bathroom?!"

"I don't see why wouldn't I pick this place? After all, this very spot had the densest mana across the neighborhood." Caster explained and said. "I may not be from this era, but I'm not ignorant enough that I don't know what a bathroom is, I wouldn't have chosen this location if it weren't for the fact that it had the densest mana concentration in the area."

"Oh…so you didn't pick this because…"

"Because what?" Caster urging him to continue.

"No, forget about it."

"...If you say so.." Caster narrowed her eyes in suspicion, while he was laughing nervously.

"Anyway, I'll go down now…" Hito paused for a bit and then said. "Do you want me to bring you breakfast?"

"No," Caster answered without hesitation.

"Are you sure? I don't think you have eaten anything since yesterday night." He said.

"Master, heroic spirits such as me don't need to eat, we only need prana to live," Caster replied in a strained voice.

"Oh, but you can still eat right?"

He let out a tired sigh and answered. "Yes."

"Then I'll bring you breakfast, it doesn't matter if you can live without eating, what is there to life if you can't enjoy the joys of food?" He said with a grin.

Knowing that he probably wouldn't take no for an answer, his servant caved in and said. "Fine."

"Great! I'll be back later!" After that, he left while Caster continued making her workshop since it wasn't complete yet.

In the kitchen, he saw his sister cooking like always, after seeing him she greeted him with good morning and he did the same.

He sat down at the dining table and saw that he wasn't alone, there was Lumine who was drinking a cup of hot coffee.

"Good morning."

"Morning," Lumine replied as she took a sip of her cup of coffee.

He wasn't able to confirm this yesterday, but he would have a solid answer today, looking at his sister in the kitchen making sure that she wasn't close enough to hear he was about to talk with Lumine since it's a bit private.

Lumine noticed this and understood why, suddenly she snapped her fingers and a transparent barrier appeared enough to cover the entire dining table.

"What did you just do?" Hito asked, surprised.

"Well, it's a sound-blocking barrier," Lumine admitted.

"Oh, that's pretty convenient…I didn't know you could do that." As soon as he said that, he realized that he knows a little about Lumine, aside from her name and personality he doesn't know anything about her.

Making him think that, maybe it's a good thing that he hasn't told her his secret after all, it would be unfair if he told her all of his secrets while she hadn't told hers.

Lumine shrugs and says. "Now that Hitomi wouldn't hear our conversation with the barrier I created, what do you want to talk about?"

Hito decided to be straight to the point. "Are you a goddess?"

With that in question, she frowned and replied. "No."

Hito blinked in surprise and said. "But Caster said that you're a divin-"

Before he could finish the entire sentence, he was cut off by Lumine.

"I see, so it's that witch who told you about it." He swore that he felt jealousy in her voice, but he didn't say anything about it as he didn't want to interrupt what she's about to say.

"The witch wasn't exactly wrong with me being part divine, however, I'm not a goddess at least I don't think so, I'm a traveler, we are beings that could travel different worlds, dimensions, or another universe," Lumine explained.

Wait.. isn't she exactly like him? Because he could also travel to a different world by putting his consciousness into that reality.

"That's amazing." He sounded less impressed than he was supposed to, if it was before he discovered his dreamscape his reaction would probably be more surprising.

After experiencing world traveling himself, he wasn't surprised to know that there's also others who could do the same.

Fortunately, Lumine didn't find his lack of surprise strange, instead, his comment made her face turn bitter and pained. "Amazing…yeah I suppose it is…"

"Lumine..?" He asked, concerned.

Lumine stares at him with a conflicted expression, it was as if she's hesitant about something, and after a full minute, she finally decided to say. "Hito…when you met me that day, it was the day that my twin brother got separated, and at the same time I lost my wings and the ability to travel between worlds."

That 'day' she probably means the day we first met, the day she looked like she lost everything, she was literally dead inside at that time, and he shuddered when he remembered that moment.

As he never met someone who looked like they were a corpse despite clearly being alive and also did she just say wings?

It was a surprise to know that she had one, as much as he wanted to ask more about it, he felt like he shouldn't because it's obviously a sensitive topic to her.

"My condolences…"

Lumine let out a chuckle and replied. "Oh, you don't have to…because if it wasn't for you and your family honestly I don't know what would happen to me, thanks to you I've managed to get a hold of myself little by little…I trust you Hito that's why I'm telling you this."

He smiled sheepishly at her words and said. "It's an honor..?"

Lumine rolled her eyes with a smile. "It's not really, and it's only fair for me to share my past with you and also my secrets because I owe you and your family so much, because of you guys I've managed to recover, besides I realized that yesterday I sounded like a hypocrite about asking you to share your secrets with when I didn't share mine."

Hito couldn't help but smile at that, he truly wasn't wrong about her, she's really a beautiful person inside and out.

"So is there anything you want to ask me?" Lumine said.

There's a lot of things that he wanted to ask her, but he decided to ask her about her family, which is her twin brother. "I want to know about your twin."

That question made Lumine smile brightly, he felt like it's going to blind him, its brightness is greater than a thousand suns!

After that, she started talking nonstop about her brother, and suddenly he realized that he may have stepped into the landmine.

However, despite thinking that he was glad that this conversation made her smile genuinely, she really loves her brother.

He can't really blame her, despite Hitomi being a pain in the ass most of the time, he loves his sister dearly and to see her hurt is the last thing that he would like to see.

On his way to school, he met someone who he hadn't seen in a while.

"Tadano-san! It's been a while!" Saki waved at him on the opposite side of the street.

"Yoshida-san, it's nice to see you again." He approached and greeted her with a smile, he hadn't met her for the past few days, however, he did chat with her using line.

He knew the reason why he wasn't able to meet her for a few days, that's because her mother grounded her because she found out that she skipped class even though it was still the second day of school.

Although he doesn't know the reason why she skipped class was because of him.

"Y-yeah…umm… Tadano-san c-can I ask you something..?" Saki said nervously.

He didn't know why she was nervous, but he's going to find out after this. "Sure, what is it?"

"W-will you please go on a date with me this afternoon!" Saki shouted.

"Eh…?"

So, his first date is with Saki Yoshida, unexpected right? Me too, I almost forgot about her xD.
