"You… what?" were the first words out of Varya's mouth.

It felt like a slap to the face at first. She didn't know how to handle the information she was just given.

However, having Ebari hear the information with her made it feel like she was less alone in her confusion and frustration.

After gathering herself for a moment and the initial shock dissipating, she figured out what she was trying to say.

"I guess it wasn't realistic to think you were back for good," she said, disappointment evident.

"I'll be back permanently soon enough," he said. "I have business to settle off-planet. I have an entire fleet to command and men that have been stuck on a planet without reason for days."

Ebari was listening silently before a thought struck him.

"The only way you'll stay is if you have a throne to come back to, is that it?" the auburn-haired alien asked with a somewhat irritated expression.
