The next few years passed by like a dream to him.
He was given a house to live in, 2 meals per day and even a family that care for him. His new life was perfect, it was everything the young child could ask for.
Yet because it was so perfect, Hubris was even more scared to lose it.
He realized very early that these people weren't like him. They weren't wild and unruly but nicer and calmer. They live within a boundary of rules, something he didn't understand at the time.
If he's different, would he be chase out? If he can't be like what she expected, would she still gives him all these things? He didn't know and he didn't want to risk it.
He learned to act in a certain way, to behave more childishly and foolishly. Over time, that mask slowly blend into himself. His wild nature was hidden deep behind a tamed beast.
But people nature wasn't easy to change. Hubris lives a disconnected life, his actions never felt like his, his decision was strange and far away. Conflicting thoughts were common and Hubris was the best at it.
It was around that time that he met Ken. Ken was the 6 kids to join the family and Hubris treated him like everyone else, like brothers and sisters. It was soon proven to be ineffective however as Ken not only refused his friendliness but also others, isolating himself.
It was a frustrating thing for Hubris. To see another that didn't put in any effort yet get the same treatment as him, a person who have no respect for others. In other word, a real 'bad kid'.
One day, two days... one month, two months...
The kid called Ken is still happily living in his home. He couldn't do anything thus he choose to ignore him.
Time past and his dissatisfaction was muddled, only leaving a bad impression behind. And Ken changed. He was more friendly, more active and more mature. Hubris thought it was a good thing until the incident happened.
Why did he wanted to sneak out? Was it because the peace was too boring for him and he forgot the brutal streets?
No, it was something else. Something he can't explain.
Before he could figure it out, things were revealed to just be a ploy from his own family.
He was truly angry back then. How could they so easily side with Ken to plot against him? Why did the others agree?
His questions that couldn't be answered turned into petty hatred. He tried to annoy Ken to dispel this dissatisfaction in his heart to no avail.
He wasn't sure of what to do now, of how to act.

Hubris stared at the sight before him. A trail of destruction wiped out a part of the forest, leaving a bare and empty path. At the end of that path was a young boy in a pool of blood.
Hubris heart was thumping, it was beating faster than ever. Looking at the power Ken displayed, it was as if he has been entrenched. It was beautiful and cruel, the dazzling red star refused to leave his mind. He realized what he wanted the most. The path of magic.
"Ken!"
Hubris heard a familiar voice. It was Nasha. Behind her was Hans and a few others. They all ran toward him.
"What happened." Hans asked.
It took Hubris a while to answered and by the time he was finished, the other children was already awake.
"I see."
"Will... Ken be fine?"
Hans looked slightly troubled at the question, in the end he could only give a roundabout answer.
"What about our home..?"
"It's... gone."
All the children who heard this was in shock, the place they have lived in for years now gone? It was too sudden.
Hans could only let Nasha pacify the children while he go check on the 'hero'.
"How's he?"
"Not good. He is on the verge of death. Even we can't do anything about it right now."
Hans took another look at the green robe wizard before him, asking in a heavier tone.
"I don't see you healing him, how can you say that?"
The wizard sighed softly, his hand beckons Hans to come in the tent.
Inside laid the young boy, blood continuously pouring out of his body.
"This..!"
"I was shocked too. His body is constantly breaking down and healing. His self healing abilities have already surpassed our healing abilities thus we can't help him.
As you know kindness wizard healing weaken self healing of other trait, there's nothing we can do right now but wait."
Hans look at the boy called Ken. There's no doubt he'll be a remarkable person if he manages to survive this. He just hopes that this power won't bring unforeseen consequences to the world later on.
