Kristof's Point of View

After drying each other, I picked Aláine up again. She wrapped her arms around my neck, and I carried her to our bed. I gently laid her down and pulled the blankets over her. Walking around the bed to the other side, I got under my side of the covers.

Once in, I pulled her into my arms, turning her, spooning her. She sighed as if content before closing her eyes and falling asleep. I smiled and held her. My true mate was here in my arms and had totally given herself to me. I also knew that I was totally hers. If we had both been werewolves, this would have happened as soon as I met her, but as I had told Zara, she was worth waiting for.

"Ahh, my mate," I whispered, "you make it so easy to love you."

I was falling in love. It was more than the mate bond, of that I was sure. If I could hold her in my arms forever, it wouldn't be long enough.
