" That gaze…"
For some reason, Jiraiya felt the gaze that Kushina had toward Rochen was somewhat familiar.
It was like…
' No.. it must be my imagination.'
He had known Kushina from her childhood, and there's no way it would be that.
Still, even as time passed, Jiraiya couldn't get this thought out of his mind.
But when he imagined how this fact would burden Minato, Jiraiya decided to keep quiet. Hoping that everything was just him being too precautious.
However, at the edge of the party, something happened.
Just when everyone was about to went home, and there were only a few people left, Minato suddenly went for Rochen.
It was a pretty long chat, but basically, he wanted Kushina to work for Rochen for some time.
His argument was because he felt that Kushina should be a bit lonely when he went on a mission, so he thought that her working in Rochen's place should have helped her a bit.
Of course, this was not the only reason. Kushina previously told Minato about how she was drunk in Rochen's place, and Rochen was kind enough to escort her home.
Or in other words, Minato had placed his trust in Rochen.
Here, Jiraiya was about to say something. But when he saw even Kushina didn't say any rejection here, all he could do was kept his thought in his mind. But one thing for sure; later, he would grab Minato and give him some pieces of his mind.
And if Minato was not going to believe him, then he would try to check things by himself.
. . . . . . . . . .
While all these things were going on at Kushina's side, at Mikoto's side, Rochen's plan also was progressing well.
Not knowing that everything was already calculated by Rochen, Mikoto happily gave a bottle of the bloodline-enhancing liquid to Fugaku.
Mikoto's thoughts were simple.
She wanted to give the liquid to Fugaku, and be useful to the family.
But what she never took into account before was the greed of humans and their skeptics.
This morning, when Mikoto woke up and noticed the bloodline-enhancing liquid next to her, with a happy expression, she immediately got up and brought them to Fugaku.
But she never expected that what she would face later would not be a loving gaze or a happy gaze of Fugaku, but rather an eye full of suspicion.
No matter what, the bloodline-enhancing potion was way too suspicious. Let's not talk about whether it was true or not. Just the fact that it could enhance a bloodline could bring another war to the ninja world, and for Mikoto to get a hand on this, it was impossible for Fugaku just to let things slide through.
Under Fugaku and the clan elder's command, Mikoto was apprehended.
If not for the fact that she was pregnant with the clan leader's son and was the wife of the clan leader, her treatment would be a lot worse. But as of now, they had decided to lock her in a secret room until they were able to test the liquid.
Hours later….
Mikoto was still inside the dark secret room. Locked, tied up, and anguished.
She even did the deal with the devil to help her family, but what she got now?
Only looks full of suspicious and badmouth.
Yet, Mikoto tried to be strong. Inside her belly was the child that would be the future of Uchiha, and she must not give up now.
She still believed that when they have tested the liquid, they would soon return and set her free.
When the sun set and the days began to get dark, the door to the secret room was finally opened.
It was Fugaku. He walked inside with a complicated expression.
Mikoto though didn't see this. She thought that Fugaku must be here to free her.
With a happy expression, she looked forward at Fugaku, thinking about clearing the misunderstanding, but what was waiting for her was just a cold look from Fugaku.
" Mikoto, I need you to tell me honestly. Just where did you get the liquid?"
" Fugaku, I…"
Here Mikoto finally realized the situation she was in. She tried to change the subject, but Fugaku's gaze was glaring at her.
" Mikoto, please answer me."
" Fugaku.. what are you doing? You are scaring me and our child… And.. you have tested the liquid, right? It works, isn't it? Tell me that it works.."
However, sometimes, the greater the hope you have, the easier would you fall into despair.
When Mikoto said those words, Fugaku's response was just a sigh before he shook his head.
" Yes.. the liquids worked wonders. We have tested it out, and even though we still would have more testing, we could somehow conclude that what you previously said was correct."
" Then…"
Mikoto raised her head. Her heartbeat was getting faster, but Fugaku's next words had truly put the water on her face.
" And that's more a reason why we can't just let you go. Mikoto, we need the liquid, and we need to know how you procure them. Please Mikoto, for the greater of the clan…"
