Capítulo 45: A Family of Simps

"House Mantelon, more commonly referred to as 'Aurellions number one simps' by their enemies, have remained steadfastly loyal to House Aurellion to this day."

"With the most commanders of 'The Pelican Protectors' and Grand Commanders of the Pelican Guard, they are the loyal bodyguards of the noble house."

"They are known as the most loyal noble house to exist in Dynasties Online and are a big part of what keeps House Aurellions powerbase intact, with many members becoming leaders of various liege loyalist or royalist factions within the dynasties court.

"The only moral right for them is an order from House Aurellion, even if ordered to execute 100,000 people, they would do so without hesitation, which comes with its own problems….

"As they respect no one but House Aurellion, they infuriate many superiors of members of House Aurellion as they would happily reject orders from a person with a higher rank than their lord and spit at their fit."

"Even kings and emperors are no exceptions."

[Congratulations to player Raising Pelican of Loyalty for completing their first Dynasty History Event, 'Rise of House Aurellion,' going far beyond your objectives and gaining bountiful rewards!]

After returning to camp, the world began to swirl out of existence as the event had finished. Reginald starting to feel dizzy and sick, closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, he was back in the world of clouds, the place where he first created his character and where Friend System was waiting for him in his black suit, the administrator's black orb-like eyes bared down on the player who felt a chill down his spine.

"Take some time to look at the System Notifications and relax. If you have any questions, I will answer them as much as I can."

The friend system said, then disappeared as Reginald started to look through his game log at the many system notifications that had appeared there.

[Congratulations to player Raising Pelican of Loyalty for being the first player to complete a Dynasty History Quest involving more than 100,000 soldiers.]

[Congratulations to player Raising Pelican of Loyalty for being the second player to complete a player-created quest that the player themselves created]

Reginald was surprised when he found out that he was the first one to complete a battle involving more than 100,000 soldiers, but when he thought how the battle he fought only took 3 days when typically battles of that size could take weeks or even months to complete it suddenly made a lot more sense that he was the first one to do so. If it had not been for his scheme and the high casualty rate from the many battles and skirmishes fought, as well as the tight timeframe he had, then it is unlikely that he would have been able to finish his first quest so quickly.

Seeing that he was only the second one to complete a player-created quest, even though the game only went on sale today, made him remember that there are many talented people in the world and to be careful as there are many hidden powers and genius' throughout the world of DO.

[Calculating Dynasty Event feats….]

[As the commander of the army, the overall feats done by people under your command will also contribute to your own though they will get greater rewards as the person who did it than you.]

[Player has successfully commanded his army to kill over 90% of the enemy despite being outnumbered 2/1 on a primarily flat steppe crushing them and achieving an overwhelming victory.]

[Player has led his army to kill over 50% of the major military officers of his enemy, killing 2 from the Plurian army and 4 from the Ortuian army out of a possible 10.]

[Player has successfully killed the Ortuian army general personally.]

[Congratulations to player Rising Pelican of Loyalty for being the fourth player to kill another player in the game personally.]

[Congratulations to player Rising Pelican of Loyalty for successfully completing the S-ranked hidden bonus quest 'Defeat the Allied Army.']

[Congratulations to player Rising Pelican of Loyalty for successfully completing the quest 'The Battle of Brunag.' going far beyond its success criteria.]

[Congratulations to player Rising Pelican of Loyalty for having a large effect on the world, allowing the Chavarian Empire to be formed more easily.]

[Congratulations to player Rising Pelican of Loyalty for being the first player to have a subordinate kill a half-orc half-giant in the form of Naguk.]

[Congratulations to player Rising Pelican of Loyalty for having his subordinate and friend Leon Mantelon defeat the master fighter Bardornus Asharm in single combat.]

[Player has saved the life of Captain Darius, making him admire Lucius Aurellion, potentially opening him up for recruitment in the future.]

[ The player's strategy and friend Leon Mantelon has gained the respect of Captain Aldorus, potentially opening him up for recruitment in the future.]

Reginald was surprised at the many feats that he had performed or were performed by subordinates under his command. He imagined that if he were not so quick to grab the game and the equipment for it, then he would not have had so many achievements, as many of them would have been taken by those who played the game first.

While some of these advantages may be minor such as only being the fourth to kill a player, all these little bonuses will add up to make his character and dynasty stronger, giving him an advantage over other players. These, alongside the increased character and dynasty creation options, were some of the rewards and opportunities that James Larant, the creator of DO, said were available for those who created their characters before the game began allowing them to integrate more into the game, learning not only more about its mechanics but also getting these first kills and other first rewards which will put them above other players.

Many of the players in the future would sigh and regret not playing DO in these crucial first stages, especially those businessmen who could not see the profound effect DO would have on them and the world at large. These arrogant businessmen would curse James while having to fork over large amounts of real-life money to players in the game to gain the in-game resources to catch up to those who got these rewards and who played the game from the first day, creating an interesting balance as they could only get as many resources as the player base was willing to give up or get themselves as they could not buy in-game resources or currency from the company instead they had to go through players.

The businessmen could even imagine the Dynasties Online CEO laughing while he watched them spend and invest in his game, watching as his bank account constantly increased from the 5% commission he got off each transaction. This is because most of them, except a few eccentric ones that liked such games or those close to James who suspected DO, was more complex than it looked, only joined the game months later. This investment into the game only made it more and more influential, making people marvel at the high-risk scheme the eccentric somehow managed to pull off.

Most of the people who got these rewards and who monopolised resources in the very early stages of the game were those who were unemployed, on UBI or, like Reginald, didn't have much to lose and saw it as an opportunity to make a bit of cash while they attended university or were between jobs. As such, these businessmen would be forced to pay players at prices they set to gain these crucial resources, which inadvertently would create a market for these in-game materials and help redistribute wealth from them to those who are poor and struggling while creating jobs for these people.

This was precisely what James had intended when he first came up with the concept of DO, giving jobs to people who would likely make trouble without a way up in society to help keep them busy and provide them with some purpose and a way up instead of fomenting rebellion causing thousands if not millions to die though most would never know of this hidden motivation behind the game.

Only those who looked back on events from the future would know and come to understand the hidden contributions that James Larant made to stabilising Great Britain alongside other countries in the world too.

Reginald then looked below at the system notification that mentioned calculating his rewards, getting excited as he had gone above and beyond in his dynasty history event, so he expected his reward to reflect his efforts.

[Calculating Dynasty History Event Rewards and kept character and dynasty traits….]

Reginald stopped for a moment after he read this particular notification as it reminded him that Dynasty and even Character Traits that your future character has could be affected or even eradicated by the merciless dynasty history system. But just as failing or completing an event with many sacrifices can hurt one's dynasty, succeeding and gaining excellent results like Reginald did when he played as Lucius can lead to rewards which add to your character and dynasty's power. Navigating this system successfully is essential if one wishes to have an advantage in the early game.

[Leon Mantelon survived the Battle of Brunag, becoming the Sword Martial Mentor for your dynasty, joining your noble house as its most loyal subordinate allowing your Character to keep this trait]

[You have won the battle showing your dynasty's mastery of military affairs, allowing your dynasty to keep the Fallen Marital House Inheritable Dynasty Trait]

[Congratulations to player Rising Pelican of Loyalty for completing the S rank hidden bonus quest 'Defeat the Allied Army.' Please choose one of the following for your reward.]

[Option 1: Upgrade Sworn Martial Mentor Character Trait to the Sworn Martial Dynasty Inheritable Dynasty Trait.]

[Option 2: 1 Inheritable Dynasty Trait of the player's choice.]

[Option 3: 2 Character Traits of the player's choice.]

[Option 4: An option created by the player and checked and verified by the friend system]

The rewards for completing an S-rank quest, one of the most challenging quest ratings in the game, were truly ludicrous. Any of the three options massively increased the power of one's character and Dynasty in the game, especially in the early when it is normal for the player's character to be the Dynasty itself, so these rewards gave massive early game advantages to the players who were lucky or skilled enough to obtain them.

Of course, one needs to have the capability to complete an S-ranked quest, which, when people are newer to the game, is very rare, with many dynasties failing them and becoming extinct. Reginald getting this already put him above at least 95% of the player base, if not into the top 1%, as his victory at Brunag, where he killed nearly 100,000 while only losing around 30,000 while being outnumbered 2/1 on a flat plain, was truly too rare which is the main reason why the system gave Reginald such bountiful rewards.

Reginald tapped on the words for 'Sworn Marital Dynasty Inheritable Dynasty trait', and a small screen appeared before him detailing what the trait did.

…..

Sworn Martial Dynasty (Inheritable Dynasty Trait.)

Description: Once the mentors and friends to members of your noble house, these retainers have become so loyal to your dynasty that they will lend whatever expertise they can to your dynasty's cause. Their descendants will also serve your house just as loyally. This house has a military background and speciality making them excellent and trustworthy generals, bodyguards, and leaders for the Dynasty. Though they specialise in the military, it will not stop dynasty members from the sworn house from becoming administrators or skilled members of their liege's court.

Effect: Your Dynasty has a dynasty of loyal subordinates who will gladly give their lives in service to your noble house and cause and, no matter their rank, will always treat the rulers and leaders of your dynasty with respect.

Leon Mantelon, as the Sworn Martial Mentor for your house, will become the first head of this dynasty and will have children who will continue to serve your dynasty even after his death, making the noble house and faction House Mantelon who will always be retainers and sworn to your house while this trait remains.

If House Mantelon defects for any reason, you will lose this Inheritable Dynasty Trait and any future benefits that may be gained from it.

This trait makes it extremely difficult for members of the sworn dynasty to defect or turn traitor. You will have to treat them truly horrendously for them to betray you. They are likely to fall on their swords or follow your dynasty to hell if you command it; however, their fanatical loyalty may lead to disputes in the future and a disregard for any command not issued by a member or leader of your dynasty.

You can choose any member of this dynasty to mentor any of your descendants, and they will happily oblige though the skills they gain from this trait will reflect the skills of the person assigned to mentor them.

Current gained skills for Railius Aurellion will remain unchanged due to Leon Mantelon originally being the Sworn Martial Mentor for the house.

….

Reginald could hardly believe the option that he was given and immediately chose it! The system had just given him a dynasty of simps who would do almost anything he ordered, making him feel on top of the world. What he did not know, however, is that most powerful dynasties who were kings or leaders of a more aristocratic or autocratic country typically had several very loyal families who served them due to their shared interests.

What was clear was that this was not something or a trait that most dynasties had in the early game, especially when starting the game, and was a great boon to House Aurellion. Reginald would later find out that making such decisions and valuing loyalty and integrity so much would be instrumental to the future survival of his dynasty through both its dynasty events and the game itself.

Then another notification appeared in front of him, which read.

[Congratulations to player Rising Pelican of Loyalty for being the first player and dynasty to have one swear almost absolute loyalty to you, rewarding players sworn dynasty with the inheritable dynasty trait 'Paragons of Loyalty]

….

Paragons of Loyalty: (Inheritable Dynasty Trait)

Descriptions: This noble house is known for its deep loyalty and honourable conduct making them renowned worldwide for their loyalty to a specific house or dynasty.

Effect: Has the respect or scorn of people depending on their morals and values.

This trait makes it almost impossible for this house to rebel against the House Aurellion unless that house is destroyed. This house is also likely to hold a grudge against any dynasty that tried to destroy or successfully destroys House Aurellion, the dynasty that this dynasty is fanatically loyal to.

…..

After gaining this reward, Reginald looked forward to the other rewards that he would get and quickly looked at the next reward and decision that he would have to make as he now had simps sorry, he meant people that he could basically trust 100% thanks to this reward, something that is rather rare in Dynasties Online.
