Capítulo 12: Chapter 12: First Boss Battle
Rowan and Jayden finally managed to make it to the third floor. Rowan and Jayden took turns killing all the demon beasts since the eggs couldn't be stored in the space bag. Rowan used this time to copy all Jayden's sword techniques.
The floor was full of orange crystal demon beasts. This was of course no problem to the duo and they swept through it like it was nothing. They got to the fourth floor and did the same. The demon beasts on the fourth floor were only slightly stronger than those on the third.
'That snake was truly an unevolved dragon,' Rowan thought as none of the demon beasts so far were able to pose much of a threat. They eventually got to the first threshold. Upon arriving at the fifth floor, all they could see was a huge gate.
Rowan pushed the gate open and entered it with Jayden. The gate closed behind them on it's own which sent a chill down their spines. Rowan left the two eggs near the gate before going deeper into the fifth floor.
As Rowan and Jayden got deeper, the air turned colder. An icicle spear flew through the air towards Rowan. He barely managed to dodge the icicle before looking at the place it came from. Up in the sky was a huge blue bird with red eyes and a red glow around it.
Rowan was slightly at a loss since he didn't have any long ranged attacks except what he stolen from Jayden. The bird screamed into the air which sent a cold, icy wave of air towards them. Rowan could feel that his body was getting harder to control.
"Crescent Moon Slash!" Jayden slashed out with her sword which caused a crescent moon projectile to fly towards the ice bird. The bird casually moved out of the way and the projectile smashed into the roof which caused some ice shards to fall.
The ice bird opened it's mouth and a beam of ice shot out of it's mouth straight at Jayden. She managed to roll out of the way but the place where she stood was frozen in ice. Rowan shuddered to think what would happen if anyone was hit with that beam.
Rowan suddenly had an idea and made two shadowclones. A Rasengan began forming on one of the clone's hand and the other clone helped it maintain form, power and stability. After the Rasengan was formed, Rowan and the other clone through the first clone into the air.
The clone flew towards the ice bird and it opened it's mouth to shoot a beam at the clone. Before the beam could form though, the bird's eyes met the eyes of the clone. Demon Illusion Shackling Stakes. The bird was paralyzed and the Rasengan got smashed into it's left wing.
The clone turned into a puff of smoke and the bird began falling to the ground. "Half Moon Slash!" Jayden decided to finish the bird off but before the half moon projectile could land on it's target, the bird flapped it's wings and soared back into the sky.
It's left wing which was hurt was entirely encased in ice. The ice bird screamed before nine balls of ice formed around it. The balls changed shape into spears before the bird shot all of them towards Rowan and Jayden like bullets.
Rowan was sure that he could avoid the spears but when he looked over at Jayden, he could see the knight shaking. Before the ice spears could reach the knight, Rowan body flickered in front of him and covered himself with chakra.
"Rotation!" Rowan spun around causing the ice spears to shoot off of the dome his rotating created. He stopped and looked at the ice bird in the sky. He suddenly felt enlightened and began gathering chakra into his right palm.
"Eight Trigrams, Air Palm!" a barely visible palm print flew towards the ice bird before smashing into it's chest but it just shook it off. A vein popped out of his forehead as he looked at the bird that just shook off his attack like it was nothing.
Rowan placed his hands together and created ten clones. Each one of them gathered chakra into their hands. "Eight Trigrams, Air Palm Barrage!" The clones kept on sending out air palms continuously. The barrage of air palms stopped when all the clones ran out of chakra and turned into puffs of smoke.
The body of the ice bird was stuck in the ceiling of the fifth floor before falling down and smashing into the ground. Rowan collapsed onto the ground. He felt that collapsing on the ground is a real stress reliever after each battle.
"Thank you," a soft voice came from behind him. Rowan looked behind him and saw Jayden standing there stiffly. Rowan grabbed her hand and pulled her down. "Stop being such a wuss. We are technically war buddies at this point so don't be so hard on yourself."
After testing for a while and regaining a good amount of chakra, Rowan got up and walked toward the corpse of the ice bird. Jayden went back to the gate to get the eggs that they left there so that there wouldn't be any harm that came to them.
"A Goddamn ORANGE Crystal!" Rowan screamed into the sky after looking at the orange crystal in his hand and remembering that ice beam that could freeze anything it touched. He couldn't help but feel that colour of the crystals was mysterious.
Rowan couldn't help but wonder how strong the demon beasts are that have yellow crystals. "Look what I found!" Jayden called out to Rowan but he couldn't see what she was referring to but he couldn't see the eggs either.
Suddenly two slithering snakes appeared in his sight. One was a darkish red and the other one was a darkish blue. Looking at the colour of the snakes, he already had names for them. He cut his thumb and pressed his bloody finger on their foreheads.
A contract was formed between them and with that, the two baby dragons called Red and Blue was a part of the team.
