Tyrell family over centuries gained not only influence, but also wealth there power only grew after Ollena Redwyne married into the family, she was a student of Saruman and well known for her cunning and sharp tongue.
Both her husband and Olenna were able to push the Tyrell family to new heights during there time.
Also Ollena and Luthor had 3 three children, while Mace Tyrell did take the head of the Tyrell family it was obvious the man was an idiot and the one advising him was his mother and sisters.
So one time Mace came to his father and mother with great news"Mother I just had an idea."
Ollena sighed said"Say it you buffoon"
Mace nodded continue"What if we set up a marriage between Prince Joffrey and Margaery, I mean the crown needs support and help, if we provide them with it.We can get Margaery the Queen."
Ollena frowned muttered"Idiot....It will not do us any good to join them."
Mace winced hearing that, while Luthor was curious about Ollena declining this proposal.While he was not very savvy in the political field, he knew what Mace proposed could work.So he questioned"Why do you think it is a bad idea?'
Mace also nodded and leaned in to hear the reason, why his mother was so opposed to this whole idea.After all getting your bloodline on throne is great achievement and honor for the Tyrells.
Ollena sighed and answered"Because Bartheons and Lannisters are barely holding themselves together.They are taking loans from Iron Banks and from what I understand it won't belong before the Lannister mines dry out too."
Ollena remembered her teachers lesson well, she was always told to keep an information network. since information about your enemies could turn tide of any situation
She then looked at his idiot son and added"So if you join them, the Tyrells will have to help them with all there debt and add in the fact my master personally warned me to stay away from them."
Luthor and Mace we're not surprised hearing the fact Saruman personally warned Ollena, Mace saw her mother worried look and with frown asked"What did he say?"
Ollena replied"If we join the Bartheons and Lannisters our house and bloodine will end."
This shocked both of them, while Ollena added"A war is definitely brewing and it is best for us to get not dragged into it."
Mace and Luthor slowly took everything in, while Ollena kept another secret to herself it was about Cersei's children percentage.
Which she found questionable because all of there looks did not come close to Bartheons,also it only became more suspicious, when Cercei never entered her children into the Bartheon family Taepestry.
So she did some digging and Bartheons always had same physical features like blue eyes and black hair, there bloodline remained constant throughout there time.Ollena found every bastard of Robert had similar features.
Ollena felt Maegary didn't have to waste her life with something so stupid and she could do so much better.
But what she didn't know at the time was Margaery would actually fall for Eragon in the future.
On the other hand Jon Arryn, Hand of the King for the newly crowned king, Robert I Baratheon was working hard to patch up the relationship between Dorne, Tyrells and North.
While Jon main focus was on North and he tried every method to get Ned to forgive Robert, but nothing worked.The reason was Jon knew Robert's reign isn't stable and it won't last long without strong alliances, so he went even far to use his mentor status and talking about Lyanna to get Ned to forgive hi.
Ned was disgusted that he told Jon Arryn to leave.

Petyr Baelish lusted after Cateyln and when Catelyn was sent to North as a widow, he hated North and Starks for making her life miserable.He even tried to get Lord Tully to give him Catelyn's hand in marriage, but it did not work.
Mainly one reason Hoster Tully was going the same route as Otto Hightower and told Catelyn to get Ned attention.While Catelyn was reluctant, she agreed and they knew a King could take multiple wives it is frowned upon because of issues of heirs.But still possible.
There, Petyr increased his influence by moving his own people in place, such as the four Keepers of the Keys, the King's Counter and the King's Scales, as well as harbor masters, toll collectors, and wine factors.Meanwhile, he also developeda complex web of loans, transactions, and investments, as to supply the king and the King's Hand with enough gold,and bought a number of establishments.
But everyone was these loans, transactions and Investments were recorded by Saruman spies with evidence to back it up.Petry Baelish was a dead man walking and the poor man didn't even know that.
