Capítulo 3: Meeting The Mikaelsons.
"What the bloody hell is happening here?" Klaus reappeared from nowhere. His hands were a little bloody.
"I go out for one minute to help Hayley find the men who killed Jackson, and you are killing guests I bring home!"
"Your guests?" Kol asked.
"Is this why I let you out?" Klaus said angrily, "Because you can easily go back where you came from!"
Elijah looked from Klaus to Caroline. Kol took a step back. It was an effective threat.
"Kol, Elijah…" He told them. "This is Caroline Forbes, the Headmistress of the Salvatore School!"
"Caroline Forbes!"
Elijah smiled.
"Yes! Caroline!" Klaus said impatiently, "I talk about her all the time…..If you ever bothered to listen!"
"Oh, I know her…alright." Elijah smiled harder.
Hayley Marshall-Kenner came from the other side of the house.
"Hope wants to play…." She was covered with blood. "Can you take over for a few minutes?"
"Sure…" Klaus told her, "I'll be right over."
She looked at Caroline.
"Oh, Hi…" She offered a bloodied up hand to Caroline, who took it. "Hope is so excited to see you!"
Hayley ran upstairs in the compound, she was going to take a shower, while Klaus went to see his daughter, who was in the apartment on the other side of the street.
"I'll be back!" Klaus told Caroline and disappeared again.
"Niklaus!" Elijah called him,
He turned around, exasperatedly. Elijah handed him a tissue; his hands were covered with blood.
"Right!" He took it. He always forgot that Hope was just a nine year old in a very messy world.
She was so confused with all of that. She nodded again, without knowing what was happening.
Klaus nodded to Elijah, pointing towards Caroline.
Elijah asked Caroline to come inside.
"Come in, Caroline!" He told her.
He took Caroline inside.
"Behave, Kol!" He told Kol.
Caroline walked inside the house, it was old fashioned. She liked it.
"Can I interest you in a coffee?" Elijah was as formal as Klaus was casual.
"Okay…" Caroline was uncertain.
He held a coffee pot, and two cups. He poured a coffee for Caroline, and one for himself. He sat down on the armchair opposite to Caroline.
"I think it's time, you and me…" He waved a hand to Kol, who puffed out sharply, and left the room. "Have a chat.."
"Me?" Caroline accepted her coffee, startled.
"Yes…." He told her. "We are long overdue."
"Me?" Caroline asked again. She was confused. This was the first time she met Elijah Mikaelson, and she didn't know what she could possibly talk about with Elijah.
"I need to talk to you about Niklaus…." He took a sip.
"Oh….Okay." She was understanding the meaning of the conversation.
"You are good for Niklaus…"
She sat back, and started drinking her coffee.
"He is going to ask you to marry him!"
Caroline gagged. She coughed.
"What?" She gagged. "I am….It's just been five months!?"
"I know, Caroline!" Elijah told her. "But...When you know….you know….."
Caroline nodded.
She didn't know what to say.
"Caroline….." He sat up straighter. "If you don't see a long term relationship with Neeklaus, I suggest you will have to terminate it!"
"I understand!" Caroline put the coffee down. "I think I have to think about it…."
"I think….."
"Elijah, I am not going to hurt him in any way." She told him. "I wouldn't get into this relationship if I didn't think it was worth something to me." She told him, "It'll be too soon to get married, we don't even know if my daughters like Klaus, or if Hope would be okay with me!"
"Caroline….." He stood up, "I suggest you think about it fast!"
He told her softly. She nodded understandingly.
"I promise." She smiled.
Klaus came back inside. He was holding a seven year old Hope's hand.
Hope…!" He put her down, "Why don't you say hello to Caroline…."
Hope shyly strided to Caroline and smiled.
"Aren't you a cute little girl?" Caroline smiled. "Beautiful hair like your mom, and a cute smile like your dad!" She fondled her hair.
Caroline took out a candy from her pocket. Klaus was now talking to Elijah.
"So, Hope…." She patted on the couch next to her, and Hope sat down. "Do you want to come to Mystic Falls with your dad sometimes?"
"Maybe…" She smiled. Her head tilted. "You'll have to ask my mom!"
She nodded towards Hayley who was coming down the stairs, her hair wet.
"I will!" Caroline whispered, smiling.
"Pinky promise?" Hope asked.
"You really want to get out of here!" Caroline laughed.
Klaus came towards the couch.
"What are you two talking about?" He sat at the edge of the couch.
"Caroline says, I should come to Mystic Falls…." Hope told him. "Can I come with you, Daddy….Please, please.....!"
"We have to ask your mother…" Klaus told her.
She ran to the other side.
"I am going to ask her!"
Hope jumped around. Klaus smiled.
"She is nothing like you!" Caroline told Klaus,
Klaus laughed,
"You'll change your mind once you take her to Mystic Falls with you."
Elijah stood aside, Hayley was talking to him. He glanced at Caroline and Klaus from the corner of his eye. He smiled.
"I have to go to Mystic Falls!" Hope jumped around Hayley. "Can I go? Can I go?"
She fondled her daughter's hair.
"Why don't we ask Caroline…." Hayley told her, "If she has room for you, sweetheart. Or the time…..Because, she's always so busy!"
