Capítulo 12: Depends on who is asking...

"Who is she?" That was the question that greeted Chris as soon as he entered his room that evening. He hadn't expected Sky to be in, so he was a bit surprised to suddenly get a question thrown at him.

He looked at Sky, who was seated on his bed and busy doing God knows what on his laptop. He wasn't even looking at Chris at all. He was surprisingly dressed like he was off the stage and just wearing a large hoodie with the hood covering his hair and a pair of joggers.

"Who is whom?" Chris asked with disinterest as he went to sit on his bed and began to take off his shoes.

"That girl. Seen you twice with her. Didn't take you long, did it?" He asked, his attention still on his laptop.

Seen them twice?

Chris wondered before he remembered the first time he saw Sky in flesh. He had been with Rachel.

Still busy untying his shoes, he looked at Sky as he asked, "Isn't it a bit too early to be jealous?"

Sky's finger stopped moving on the keyboard, and he raised his head to look at Chris before he chuckled lightly. "Nicely played." He said with a nod before he returned to typing.

"Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be out as usual?" Chris asked him as he focused on his other shoe.

"Are you sending me out of my own bedroom?" Sky asked, sparing him a glance.

He shrugged and just stared at him, wondering what he was seriously working on.

"You looked like a saint today." Chris said to distract him and saw Sky's lip arch slightly.

"Maybe I am?"

Chris snorted. "It's difficult to tell if you are acting or just being your true self."

"Which do you think it is?" He asked, smiling. This time he put down his laptop and removed his hood, running his hand through his hair and pushing it to the back carelessly.

"I doubt that was your true self." Chris said with his intense gaze on him.

Okay, maybe he shouldn't be thinking about this, and it wasn't as though he was thinking about it. I mean, even if he didn't like Sky and even if he wasn't interested in guys at all, he would have still been curious about this. And what was he curious about? It was simple. He was yet to decide which of Sky's looks was better. The professional look outside? Or the casual one right now with messy hair? He also wasn't wearing either of his earrings.

Sky's chuckle brought him back to reality, and he frowned at him, wondering what was funny.

"You were checking me out."

Chris snorted. "You fucking wish."

"I don't like you swearing."

"Do I look like I care what you like?"

"You are so stubborn." He sighed in exhaustion.

"Just as much as you are annoying."

"I have never heard I was." Sky said, smiling.

"Well, now you know. And I don't lie." Chris said before laying his back flat on the bed.

"Aren't you going to shower?" Sky asked curiously.

"Why? Too eager to see me nude?" Chris turned to ask him, and that just made Sky laugh.

God, why did he have such a crazy smile?

"How were classes today?"

"Don't talk to me." He snapped at him, making Sky look at him curiously, wondering what he had done.

"I obviously don't want to see you nude. You just seem exhausted. That's why I asked."

"What?"

"Telling you to go shower. In case that's why you are suddenly pissed."

Chris almost laughed. Why was he reading meaning into everything?

Sky suddenly stood up and went to open his wardrobe, where he had his clothes neatly ironed and hung. He took out a shirt and pants before he bent to get his shoes.

Chris's eyes followed every movement and immediately looked away from him from the stupid guy that was trying to tempt him into having stupid thoughts.

His phone began to ring, and he hastily picked it up and saw it was his mother calling. He answered the call as he kept trying not to pay Sky any attention.

"You finally remember you have a son?" He said into the phone.

"I'm so sorry. Work was hectic. But I wanted to talk to you as soon as I was done with the pile of meetings. Your father extends his greetings. He sent you some money. Don't get into character and struggle too much."

"I will be fine. I am fine. School isn't that big of a deal."

"I know.  But—"

"No buts, mum. Just trust me."

She sighed in resignation. "Okay. Fine. What about your roommate?"

"He is here."

As soon as he said that, Sky turned to look at him and raised a questioning brow.

"Nice. Let me speak with him." His mother said.

"What? Why?" Chris asked cautiously, sitting up.

"Just to get to know who my son is living with. Or you would prefer I do a background check?" She answered.

"You are so extra sometimes."

"Come on." She urged him.

He sighed before looking at Sky who was still staring at him with his hands folded across his chest.

"My mum wants to speak with you."

"Oh... cool." Sky stretched his hand to receive the phone, and Chris quickly put it on loud speaker so he would hear their conversation.

Sky didn't mind and went to sit on his bed across from Chris as he answered the phone.

"Hello, Mrs. Owen."

"Such a lovely voice. What's your name?" She asked in a delightful tone that made him chuckle.

"Sky Sato."

"And a lovely name too."

"Mum!" Chris said in warning tone that made his mother laugh.

"Please take good care of him. He can be extra sometimes, but don't blame him. He got it from me. You are free to call me anytime to tell on him or if something is going on." The woman said to Sky.

"You don't have to worry too much ma'am. He's in safe hands."

Chris's perverted eyes looked at his hands before he shook his head and looked away.

"That's nice to know. I can tell you are a very charming young man."

Sky laughed. "I don't think so, but I've heard it a couple of times."

Chris rolled his eyes and that just made Sky, who was watching him to grin.

"Haha! I like you already! Do you have a partner?"

"Mum!" This time, Chris was alarmed. He didn't want his mother to slip and say something she isn't supposed to.

"Well... it depends on who is asking." Sky said in a flirty tone that immediately got Chris up on his feet and snatched his phone from Sky and glared at him.

"I'm hanging up." He said into the phone before he pressed the end button.

"Your mother is funner than you." Sky said calmly.

"You aren't ashamed? Flirting with an older woman."

"Why should I be?" He asked with an innocent look.

"Yuck." Chris eyed him before going to fetch his things to bathe.

"I'll be sleeping out tonight." Sky informed him.

Capítulo 13: Sudden confession

By the time Chris returned from the shower, the room was empty. Sky was out. And honestly, Chris was a lot relieved to be alone inside.

He quickly locked the door before going to take off his contact lenses and dropped himself on his bed, laying on his back.

He kept his gaze on the ceiling, thinking about how boring his life suddenly was. I mean, it was Friday night! But here he was, stuck in his room and repeatedly getting pissed off by his roommate.

Was this what they meant by being mature? Resisting the urge to punch someone and spending more time reflecting on life than partying?

"Argh! I'm so bored." He said this in frustration before using the pillow to cover his face.

There was only one person he could talk to, and that was the person he picked up the phone to call.

"I was just about texting you," Wilson said into the phone as soon as he answered the call.

"I'm fucking bored."

"How so? Where is your roomie?"

"Dude's out."

"Then you should go out. Look around your new town and have fun. Come on. You are Christopher Owen!"

"I want to. But I am too lazy to do that. Besides, it would be awkward walking alone."

"What about that girl that went to NA? The one you told me about? Why not go together?"

"I can't just text her now, asking to meet up. That would be so... I don't know."

"You sound so mature." He chortled, and Chris sat up immediately.

"I know, right? I was just thinking the same!"

Wilson laughed in amusement, seeing how Chris was agreeing easily.

"So tell me, how's it been for you and him? Are you sure you can cope?"

"I... think so."

"You're still thinking?"

"I mean, he is hot and stuff, but he's not the kind of guy I see myself being into. He's too much of a narcissist and an asshole."

"Sounds like someone I know. But... you're sure you won't fall in love with him?"

"Eww. Of course not! He's just... appearance-wise, he's the kind of guy I'd be interested in bleeping, but even his attitude is so annoying that looking at him doesn't even give me a hard-on."

Wilson chuckled. "So you've seen him naked?"

"I haven't."

"Nothing at all?"

"Not even his stomach," Chris confessed.

"Jeez! Does that dude ever shower?"

It was Chris's turn to laugh. "I'm sure he does. He smells nice."

"You've got it bad for pretty boy, huh?" Wilson teased.

"Don't be stupid. I won't lie just because I don't like him.

"Do you have his picture?"

"What? I'm supposed to secretly take a photo of him and send it to you? What am I? A stalker? A pervert?"

"You can be a perverted stalker sometimes. You have such a tendency."

"Just like you're an idiot."

"Haha! Do try not to jump him though. You're probably suffering from blue balls by now."

"I won't. He isn't really my type."

A knock on the door distracted Chris, making him look at the door with a raised brow, wondering if Sky was back.

"Gotta get the door." He said that and stood up.

He went to the door just as Wilson was saying something about his boyfriend and opened the door, but the person there wasn't Sky. He was shorter, and looked wilder even though he was just wearing ripped denim pants and a bright green cardigan.

It was Henry who was looking at him with a kind of surprise and confusion, and Chris gave him a questioning look, wondering why he was staring at him like that.

"Sky isn't here," Chris told Henry, who nodded.

"I know. I came to pick up something for him."

"Oh... okay," Chris said and stepped away from the door while Henry entered and closed the door behind him.

Just as Chris sat on his bed, Henry handed him the nylon bag he had in his hand.

Once again, Chris gave him a questioning look before saying, "I'll call you later," to Wilson, and then he ended the call.

"What's that?" He asked Henry without taking it.

"Sky asked me to give it to you."

Chris took the bag hesitantly and looked at what he had been offered.

It was a packed burger with a note attached, which he took out and looked at. It said, "Don't be mad."

For someone as "perfect" as Sky, or at least that is what he claimed to be, Chris was glad to see his handwriting was not that exceptional. It was just normal and plain. But then he furrowed his brow as he wondered why he was being sent this. Who said he was mad? What exactly was Sky apologizing for with this?

"I'm gay."

Chris was startled by Henry's sudden confession and looked at him in confusion, wondering where this was coming from.

It seemed like Henry read his expression wrongly because Henry looked like he wanted to run away and hide.

"Uh... why do I need to know that?" Chris asked quietly.

Henry forced out a smile as he said, "I'm sure you must have noticed the other day. And I'm also sure you do not like me. But I promise you, I don't go about jumping on all guys I meet. Yeah, I check out guys, but it's just the same as guys checking out girls and girls checking out guys. doesn't mean I want to throw myself at you. So if you—"

"I really don't need to know all this." Chris cut him off. "And I find it annoying that you are explaining your sexuality to me. That's very... weird."
