Capítulo 24: Magic
Alvar opened the door to his room and walked inside with Cali following behind him.
"So this is where you have been staying all this time eh?" she said while she looked around the room.
"Although it doesn't look like much, it still gets the job done." Alvar chuckled and walked toward his desk.
"Have you thought about buying your own house? Or perhaps just live inside that workshop of yours?" Cali asked and followed Alvar toward his desk. She curiously looked at all the papers he was taking out of his storage. Most of them are notes on how Magic Crystals work while some notes have diagrams of the Crystals.
"Hmmm, I guess living in my workshop shouldn't be that bad." Alvar smiled
"Speaking of which. Can you give me a small tour of Orario? I don't know a lot about this place after all." He chuckled and looked at Cali.
"Asking me on a date now, are we?" She giggled with a smile.
"Sure, I would love to. But didn't you want to stay on the low or something? Shouldn't us being together be the opposite of that? I am pretty popular in Orario because of my magic after all."
"It's true that I want to stay away from attention and that I want to continue my experiments and to forge without being bothered... but I didn't come to this world for that. I came here to take a break from my previous life and start a new one with you." Alvar said in a soft tone.
"Besides, I can always 'join' a famous Familia in name to let others leave me alone."
"It's true that I wouldn't want a deity's Falna on me but I wouldn't mind joining a Familia in name only."
Cali smiled and hugged Alvar while she rested her head on his chest.
"That's true. If you are planning on making a deal with a Familia then your best bet would be the Hephaestus Familia or the Loki Familia. The Hephaestus Familia is a smithing Familia and the most well-known one at that. I have met Hephaestus a few times and she loves forging so I know for certain that she wouldn't mind helping you out if you could teach her a few things. While my Familia is labelled as the second strongest Familia in Orario. I know Loki personally and I know for a fact she wouldn't mind having you in our Familia." Cali said softly, enjoying his embrace.
Alvar realised that if he kept being so stuck up on the fact that he doesn't want to be at the center of attention. He wouldn't be able to spend time with the person he came here for.
Alvar started caressing her hair and rest his head on hers.
"We can take care of that problem when it arises." He said softly to which Cali hummed in agreement.
"Alvar... I'll fall asleep if we stay like this." She chuckled lightly.
"Is that so? After we are done with the Magic Crystals we can sleep then." Alvar said to which Cali nodded and left his embrace.
"Right, the solution is pretty simple in all honesty. You just have to use this world's magic system." She yawned briefly and sat on the chair. She took one of the empty papers and started writing on it.
"Before I get into the solution I'll first give you a brief explanation about the magic system in this world."
"Now, firstly there are two different types of magic. The first is congenital magic which is magic based on one's own ability and race. The second one is acquired magic, magic based on the falna given by the Gods and Goddesses. Most magic requires a specific chant to activate, except for no chant magic."
"If the user is unable to control the magic power of their magic, something called Ignis Fatuus can occur and causes their magic to explode and damage the user."
" Mana in this world is called Mind and if someone runs out of mind it can cause them to faint which is called Mind down or Mind zero."
"Next up is Magic slots. A person can only have three magic slots and can't learn more magic than that however, most people tend to never have any magic appear so it's pretty rare and sought after by Familias."
"Now here's the main part. The development ability Mage can strengthen the power, length of time, amount of targets, and the area of effect, in addition to creating a magic circle when the user casts magic. Magic circles are the solution to your problem." Cali finished with a grin.
"Magic circles?" Alvar asked confused.
"Mhm, Riveria is a mage. She once taught me a few things about magic to help me better control my flames. And she briefly went into the topic of Magic circles once. She said that Magic circles are essentially the language of magic. Meaning that if someone can learn this language with extraordanary control over mana they could essentially make a Magic circle and make it do anything they wish." Cali's grin widened a bit.
"You said that the problem you have is that the mana circuits keep draining the stored mana. So you could infuse a magic circle inside the crystal instead of a normal spell. Wich means you could remove the 'freezing' aspect of the mana circuits. Remember, you can control the output of the circles so their is no need to worry about them absorbing all of the stored mana. You could also potentially add a magic circle that makes the mana circuit use the mana in the surroundings instead of the crystal itself." Cali finished her explanaition and left the paper where she wrote her theory on the tabel.
"Not sure if it would work, though. I can ask Riveria if I can borrow some of her notes on these magic circles to help you understand them later on." Cali said and stood up from the chair to look at Alvar's shocked face.
"Honestly, even if these magic circles don't work. They sound very intresting. I am also quite shocked that you could think about that in just a couple of hours." Alvar said and chuckled at the proud look on Cali's face.
"Well, I'll see what I can do with that theory of yours later. And if possible, I'd like to look at some of those Magic circle notes." Alvar said.
"But for now, we can sleep. You are probably exhausted after that long expidition you went on."
They both climed into bed and fell asleep.
