"I can't believe you did this!" I spat, my voice echoing like a thunderclap across as I glared at the gods who were gathered. My fists trembled at my sides, but it was the rage in my chest that truly threatened to burst forth.

I turned, my gaze locking on Lurina, her face as still and detached as the stars she claimed dominion over. Arianne—no, Arthiana—was already being dragged toward the cave of the exiles, her head bowed but her spirit unbroken. That should have been a comfort to me, but it wasn't.

"I really can't believe that you all did this," I said again, louder this time, my voice cracking. "How could you?"

"Tag'arkh, calm down!" my sister's voice cut through the tension like the first rain on parched earth.

I whirled around to face her, my vision blurred with fury. "Don't tell me to calm down, Aquarina!" I shouted, her name tasting like ash on my tongue. "This wasn't what we agreed on!"
