The entire time they had been together in the room they hadn't shared a word. Maybe he was still mad over their last conversation and she still felt awkward. She didn't know how she was going to start a conversation. Maybe instead of going back to then or how she found him, she'd just focus on now.

"Well you can eat now. That's good. You're improving".

"Yeah. I am" he shifted on the bed. He dropped the bowl on the table and pushed it away.

"How do you feel on a scale of one to ten?" it was the same question that she just kept asking all over again.

"Five" he replied dryly and scratched at his eyes. "When will I be able to leave here?"

"When the doctor says so. You don't have to worry" she played with the end of his blanket. She was happy for the silent conversation that she had with the Hendersons. Somehow whenever they were in the room she wouldn't be there. And when she was there they weren't.
