Helen had stalled for as much as she could. She could tell from the phone conversations that she was getting annoyed with the convenient excuses she kept giving. Emily was a really patient person for not getting the police involved. First thing first Elliot had to be ready for this. He had collapsed from fatigue. She wanted both of them on their feet for this.

She had explained that to Emily and had milked that for a while. When she could no longer go with that, she had said she wanted to get Matt ready for the big reveal. Total lie because they hadn't breathed a word to Matthew. How could she? This was a child that she had raised and now some stranger was just going to waltz in and take him away.
