Capítulo 20: The Birthday Ball
"But you had never attended any of our family's events. Then why this time?", he asked her.
She looked at him, "So, you don't want me to come?"
"It's not that I was just curious. That's great that you are coming. I will be looking forward to your presence", he told her with a smile.
The next day, Mia got ready for school. When she entered the school gate, all students were staring at her and were excited to see her. Some girls were jealous of her.
She looked really beautiful in that uniform with her hair tied into a ponytail as usual.
She was like a celebrity in her school.
She would look even cuter with the glasses she wore. She had a bit of weak eyesight so, sometimes she would wear those glasses.
She was the most intelligent student among all the high school students. Currently, she was a student in her last year of high school.
Because of her intelligence, she skipped classes in her junior school.
Mia ignored the gazes of students and teachers. She went to the class and sat in her seat. Boys would fight with each other to sit next to her. The person sitting next to her was Hai Yang.
Every boy was envious of him but he didn't like it because she would always take the first position in exams leaving him to the second.
When all the classes were over and it was off time. Mia went to her teachers and collected the notes for the classes she had missed.
She had never asked her fellow students for notes because the boys would fight with each other for giving her the notes and the girls would not give her out of anger.
After closing her locker Mia was about to leave.
"Mia, wait...", Hai Yang called her.
She turned around to face him.
"Thank you for accepting the invitation or else my mother would have driven me crazy", he told her.
"You are welcome. But why would she drive you crazy?", she asked him.
He looked at the ground," She thinks that you don't want to attend our family's events because I always fight with you. Also, thank you for saving us that day."
They began to walk together.
Mia smiled, "It was not because of you that I didn't attend those events. That day I didn't save you. I just stopped something injustice. That was what a ruler is supposed to do."
Hai smiled, "I think I had been misunderstanding you all this time."
They both laughed.
"By the way did you get all the notes? If some are missing you can tell me. I will give them to you", he said.
Mia laughed, "Are you serious?"
He nodded. They reached the school gate together and parted their ways there. When Mia was about to sit in her car Liam Martin came.
"President Chi wait", he said.
Mia turned around, "Mr. Martin..."
He was standing there breathless because of running to catch up with her, "Good Afternoon, President Chi."
Mia nodded, "Good Afternoon, Mr. Martin. Is everything alright?"
He nodded while recovering his breath, "Actually, I had a request for you. You were not at your office and I was told that you would be here so, I rushed here."
"What is it?", she asked him.
"Well, I heard that you would be also attending the Yang family's event, so so I wanted to ask you for being my partner as it is a ball party. I had no other suitable partner in mind. If you could accept my invitation", he asked her.
Mia hesitated, "I... I am sorry because I already have a partner. "
He laughed, "That's fine. I just wanted to ask you but you must promise that you will have a round of dance with me."
She nodded.
He was excited, "Then let's meet tonight."
After Mia went away his expression changed into anger, "That must be Lin. Lin Yang just wait a little longer. I will crush you with my own hands."
Mia got ready for the party. She got out of her room and was waiting for the twins to come because they were also invited.
"Sister, you look like a fairy", Liana exclaimed.
Cheng came and was surprised, "Sister, if you were not my sister I would have made you my girlfriend."
They all laughed.
"You both are also looking great. Liana looks beautiful just like a princess and Cheng you look handsome like a charming prince", Mia told them both.
She waved her hand in the air and performed some magic.
"Sister, what are you doing?", Liana asked.
Mia smiled, "I am creating a shield for .y prince and princess to stay safe. One more thing doesn't misbehave and remember all the rules I told you."
They both nodded.
"Come on sister we are not kids anymore", Cheng said annoyingly.
Mia laughed, "I didn't know that my Cheng has grown up. Uh... Have you both taken your presents?"
Liana smiled, "Sister, don't worry. They are already in the car. You should not worry about small things or your hair would become white."
Mia smiled, "Okay granny."
They laughed.
Many luxury cars were coming after one another outside the Yang's Villa. From each car, there would be a rich couple coming out.
A shining, black Rolls_Royce came. Everyone was focused on the owner that was inside.
The Chauffeur came to the passenger seat door. Cheng Chi stepped out.
Cheng went to the backseat door and opened it. Liana Cheng stepped out. Lin helped her to get down.
Then Mia stepped out wearing a mask. Everyone was shocked to see her and was curious that who the beauty was. The twins were also wearing masks.
Cheng stood in the middle. His one arm was held by Liana and the other by Mia.
Everyone was whispering about who could they be.
They entered the Ballroom. Lin recognized them and rushed to them.
"You look mesmerizing, Mia", Lin said.
Mia looked at him, "So, you recognized me."
"I can recognize you even if you are standing among millions of people", he smiled.
Mia was wearing a berry-coloured dress decorated with a few laces and glitter. The dress was not overly decorated but looked enchanting. The locks of her hair were falling on her back. She had done light makeup.
She was the focus of the entire hall.
