Realizing he was looking at her hand, Emily Stone instinctively drew back, hiding her right hand behind her back.

With a hollow laugh, she began to speak, "I thought you wouldn't come back tonight. I was just about to leave when the motorcade came in. What a coincidence!"

As she spoke, she walked forward, and as she passed by the man, she finally heard his deep voice say, "Were you... waiting for me?"

Emily's body stiffened, and her footsteps abruptly halted. She turned her body sideways, with only a step's distance between them. She could even smell his pleasant scent, cool and untamed.

She bit her lip hard and turned to face him with a stiff body, looking up into his eyes.

The man's profound eyes bore into her intently, as if something she couldn't penetrate was leaping within them, causing a tightness in her chest.
