Hey guys (those that are mysteriously still here), it's been a while. If you've noticed (obviously) I haven't posted any new chapters in a while. Now, there are no excuses this time. I could have posted, but I didn't. Why? Simple, I've been thinking about the story. Now let me explain a bit further.
When I first started the Laen Chronicles I was a complete amateur, I still am to some extent and as a result even from the get-go the story lacked substance. I just wanted to write a cool story like all my favourite authors: Er-Gen, CuttleFish that loves diving, e.t.c, and as such I walked into the story with nothing more than an overview of the general plot I wanted to go for, a magic system, and the characters I wanted to use. At first it was fun, but then with the experience I started to have from writing, coupled with all the things I began to notice from my favorite writers I soon realized that what I was writing was just like bubbles, one prick and the whole thing blows apart. The more I wrote, the more dissatisfied I became with my work and eventually the passion I once had faded away and I was left with nothing. That's when I decided to stop writing and go and think.
So that's what I have been doing all these months. Thinking. Is there any way to make the book better, not for others but for me? I tried and tried but eventually came up with nothing. And so some part of me gave up.
I stopped writing altogether; but, it's hard. I love writing, but I don't fully love the story I was crafting. Anyway, a few days ago I made a decision. I will complete the Laen Chronicles. I promised to after all. Besides, I always hated it when authors started works they couldn't finish (*cough *cough Kingkiller Chronicles). But at the same time, I have decided to put all that I have learned into making something that hopefully I can be proud of.
Some of you may have noticed that I have another book I am currently writing. Redemption. Yeah, that's what my focus will be on next. But I'm not going to start writing it immediately, no, I'm going to plan things out first this time. That way, I reduce the likelihood of what happened to the Laen Chronicles also happening to it.
With that said, since most of my focus will be on Redemption I won't be able to write much on the Laen Chronicles so you should be expecting around two or so chapters a week. Now, with all that said and done, I will drop a chapter today. Happy Reading 👋
P.S. So just noticed I have a small stockpile of chapters built up. I won't post them all, I have to keep some for a rainy day, but I think I'll post more than one.
