Capítulo 39: Do you even know the meaning of taking advantage?
"Let me go", Emma protested, struggling against David's grip.
Upon hearing her plea, David reluctantly released her. But before Emma could walk away, she seized him by the collar and confronted him with fierce determination.
" Why do you always do this? Why do you insist on coming near me? It's hard to control the racing of my heart! You are making it difficult for both of us, especially after the divorce!", Emma exclaimed, her anger evident.
Although Emma was furious, her words brought a strange satisfaction to David, knowing that she is growing feelings for him.
In an attempt to tags in control, Emma tried to control her temper.
"What's your problem? Weren't you just trying to take advantage of me?" she retorted, her anger still simmering.
"Do you even know the meaning of taking advantage?", David responded with a frown.
Emma now confused by his question, paused for a moment, searching for understanding.
Legally, Emma is still his wife, and their intimacy shouldn't be a point of contention.
Emma's anger and accusations may be misplaced. But at this moment little else matters.
Without saying a word, David gently removed Emma's hand from his collar and kissed it.
Emma, taken aback, was momentarily stunned.
We are not friends.
We are not enemies.
We are married.
Marriage is a relationship where two people truly know each other, support each other, and love each other, but we are still strangers.
And it's my fault.
" David, what kind of wife did you want? Some idealized version?" Emma asked, realizing that her words had caused him pain.
"I wanted a girl who loved roses, enjoyed spending money, had a hearty appetite, and don't even respect her husband, Oh, and someone who snores while sleeping," David replied with a teasing smile, looking straight into Emma's eyes.
"Hey, I don't snore!", Emma exclaimed as she playfully punched him in the chest.
" you know there is a saying that you can never hide anything from your spouse", David remarked, a genuine smile forming on his face.
A strange proverb indeed!
