"I can't determine that judgment since Kai is a perilous vampire with humans, including babies, so it's likely he wouldn't let you keep your baby if you did have one to another man, but then again, he likely could have. He allowed you to have a pregnant horse and a kitten because it made you happy. While you were with Orlando, he made sure your pets were cared for when he could've killed them with his wrath because you were back with his enemy." Zoey stated her opinions, and I didn't disagree with that conclusion since we knew Kai's vampiric nature was baneful, yet, he has a hidden softness for me.
"I'm surprised Chester has such control over his hunger. You lost so much blood," I mentioned as I was thinking about Kai's weakness for blood.
Zoey giggled. "Chester and Kai might be brothers, but they are complete opposites. Kai never cared to gain control over his hunger like his older brother."
"You can say that again. Do you know how Chester found you since you never found him like the way I had to find Kai?" I asked out of curiosity once we were done laughing,
Zoey broke it down for me, "Chester allowed his family to wake him around every Blue Moon so he could find me, whereas Kai wanted to be alone. But it was the only mistake he made with you. If you haven't realized it yet, Kai is more of a hopeless romantic, which drew him into madness because he couldn't have you, but he conceals it like he isn't affected by his emotions. If Chester hid as Kai did, then I would have been led to him in a different way, like how you were mentally drawn to Egypt. It's a personal experience for us ladies who are fated to be with a vampire."
I smiled to remember, "I understood that about him whenever I read all those hidden messages he left me to find him in Egypt."
Zoey revealed. "He showed me too whenever he gave me his memories when he first met me and my offspring."
"What happened to the rest of your human family?" I asked in wonderment since we were talking about family.
Zoey warmly smiled. "As promised, Chester has secretly guarded them. To this very day, they're still thriving."
"Wow! In that case, how long did it take you to fall in love with Chester?" my question wandered out of my head, and she giggled.
"Let's just say I took him up on that offer to have a baby at about six months. Then I probably fell in love with him sometime after we had Madeline, our firstborn daughter, and offspring while I was still human," she shared, and my heart was warmed by the thought, but then I frowned.
"I'm surprised nobody thought the Mills were still a threat after everything they did to you," I voiced softly.
Zoey frowned. "After what they did to me, they backed away. Of course, almost everyone, including myself, let their guard down after a while. I feel Mr. Collin went into denial with everyone else who agreed with him, so they ignored Kai's warnings. Most of the Collin Alphas felt they had the situation under control since the Mills have been working with us to keep you safe, but after that attack, everyone is on alert."
"Kai was right," I finally acknowledged.
"Let's head out. I hear Coraline crying," Zoey proclaimed, but I didn't hear anything.
In no time, we returned to the living room, and sure enough, Coraline was crying about her flower that was dying because nobody watered it while they were away. Rose and Sharlene weren't here anymore. Mrs. Collin, Mrs. Nasberry, Pearl, and Irene were still unmoved from the couch with their pot of vampiric tea, which was on the coffee table. Colton was still building Legos on the floor. Across from him, with his back against the wall, Joshua was playing a Vikings war game on his iPad. Chester held Coraline in the same chair that Sharlene sat in before she left at some point.
"Mommy!" Coraline slid off of Chester's lap once she saw Zoey. She ran to her with the flower pot. To avoid any interruption on my part, I stayed by the entrance.
"What happened?" Zoey kneeled to her level as she peeked at the plant and then back at her daughter.
"It's dying!" Coraline bawled between her hiccups and sniffles. Tears streamed from her eyes as she rubbed them with her curled knuckles.
Zoey examined the shriveling plant that was near death, and she determined. "Mommy will make it better."
The tip of her pointer finger glowed green, and all she did was touch the limped stem, and the sprout was brought back to life.
"Mommy healed my plant!" Coraline cheered while her cheeks were still glistening from her previous tears. Chester came over before he kneeled to Coraline, and all he did was touch the soil with his fingerprint, and instantly, the plant branched out like a tree and bloomed into a bundle of colorful flowers that weren't from this world.
"Thank you, Daddy." Coraline hugged him.
On cue, both her parents kissed the opposite sides of her wet cheeks. "Grandma, look at what Mommy and Daddy did!" Coraline skipped her way to show Mrs. Collin and everyone else.
"Oh, isn't that beautiful! I told you mommy would heal it," Mrs. Collin gleed as she looked at the gorgeous flowers.
Chester helped Zoey stand from the floor, and he then wrapped his arm around her waist. His neck bent down since he towered her with his height, and he kissed the side of her head. They gazed at each other full-heartedly in their love before she rested the side of her head against the side of his shoulder. Fate had matched them perfectly together.
I concluded with happiness before I tiptoed away from the beautiful scene. A smile beamed brightly on my cheeks when I saw Kai wandering up the hallway while he was looking at his phone. Without giving him any forewarning, I sped up only to hug him as tight as I could without smashing our unborn babies too extensively.
"Are you alright?" Kai asked as he seemed puzzled as to why I randomly tackled him with an overbearing hug.
"I yearned for a hug," I whispered as he held me for a while.
"I overheard Rome got done baking a cake in the kitchen. He told me to tell you to come quick before Sharlene eats it all," Kai teased me to cheer me up.
"Well, you better pop us there," I giggled before he zipped us there with his speed.
Sorry for the delay to post. Updating on two novels is getting exhausting but I'm still going. This chapter concludes the truth about Zoey's part of the story. Tell me what you think by leaving a comment. The next chapter will go back into the flow of the storyline. Soon this novel will end, but it goes right into the second novel to be continued.
Don't forget to add "Reign of the Time Gap Queen." Thanks for the powerstones, don't forget to leave a comment to share your thoughts.
