Assar didn’t know how long he had been asleep for, but when he opened his eyes, he groaned as his whole body seemed to feel like one big bruise. He looked around and saw Oksana was off to the side of their camp, currently focused on something he couldn’t see.

He slowly sat up and was relieved to see that he had full movement in his body again. That wasn’t to say he didn’t feel like someone had taken it upon themselves to throw him under a pack of stampeding horses. Still, he had felt like this before after an intense regeneration session. He quickly looked down at his hands and was relieved to see that his normal body had returned and he no longer sported bat features.

His memories of the events before he blacked out were fragmented. He remembered fighting the basilisk, then how Oksana had intervened and saved his life, and finally stabbing the monster through its mouth. After that though, he only remembered bits and pieces.
