It was the end of summer... Uran was eager for the arrival of autumn... The beauty of Uran is at its zenith in the autumn, and I used to adore going outside and sleeping under the trees as they shed their leaves. And I was anxious to get back home and see my family and friends, notably Ellanora, my love. I was tired of spending the summer away from Uran upon the battleground.
"Your Highness... Everything is finished... Isthon has been annexed"... In front of me, a soldier knelt.
"Excellent... Deploy our soldiers... we are returning... let our official authorities stay in Isthon and conduct the other required tasks"...
"Yes, Your Highness"…
I walked through the war camp, which was full of soldiers, medical staff, injured people, and bodies. In front of me, Shazi stood... "Shazi... Shazi... Let's go back today"...
"Yes, Your Highness... I've already despatched His Majesty a messenger pigeon to notify him of your first significant triumph"... He gave me a warm grin.
"Yes, Grateful… He'll be content... But, even though we won, we lost so many soldiers that it doesn't make me pleased"... The victory did not bring me joy; it was carnage, a bloodbath… I pondered
"Esa... you are a prince... the next in line to the throne... the future of our Great Kingdom Uran... Don't be depressed in front of your subjects; don't make them feel as though their lives are in a downward spiral. Because of their sacrifice, we can still breathe... we should honour and praise them... They are not dead, for heroes never die." Shazi's hard palm stroked across my shoulder. I always feel lighter after conversing with Shazi; he is my hero, perhaps second only to my brother... When it comes to sword and fist strength, they are on par. I grinned and then inhaled deeply...
"I apologise for exposing a flaw in my conduct, Commander Shazi Lingol. With this magnificent achievement, let us march back to our home"... I proudly stated.
Shazi grinned at me before turning his gaze to the reconnaissance eagle in the sky...Everyone got ready to return to Uran. In the twilight, I boarded a carriage and left Isthon.
I am Esanael Yakul Allblaze, the second son of the late King of Uran, Osires Yakul Allblaze, and the younger brother of the incumbent King Canael Yakul Allblaze, the prince of the magnificent Uran, a kingdom famed across the 7 mountains for its opulence and benign reign. I was heading a regiment of Uran royal army at Isthon, a country on Uran's border. The King of Isthon was offering support to the Alphas, a group of renegade terrorist bands that were planning stealth assaults against Uran. This was my first assignment as Prince of Uran, defeating Isthon and annexing the kingdom. Commander Shazi Lingol and I completed our tasks effectively and established Uran's sovereignty in Isthon. We are returning to our home today. Hours and days passed and we are getting closer to Uran and Isthon border.
"Esa… We will be approaching the Yathri, also known as the traveller's pass; since it's becoming late, we will set up camp there for the night and continue tomorrow"... Shazi was riding Khalis, one of Uran's toughest horses known as the black pearl, While mine was Olvis, a brown one yet to be called, both were presents from my brother, King Canael.
"Yes, I've heard Yathri is famed for its various merchant stores... is it verray*?" I inquired of Shazi, expecting a favourable response.
"Yes, my Prince"... Shazi grinned... "Yathri is a prominent pass that connects the border mountains of Isthon and Great Uran. The Yathri Pass connects many kingdoms and queendoms. As a result, numerous travellers pass through Yathri to sell diverse items from all over the world. According to my father, it was dryland at first, but when a farmer saw regular travellers, he constructed an inn there, and it quickly became one of the busiest market locations. It is a crossroads for travellers and traders"... He articulated it like Frisca, my old educator.
Travellers pass by, relax, and replenish their supplies there. As a result, this location became well-known, with several inns, taverns, and other forms of entertainment... The Uran Army opted to stay there for the night. They needed to unwind for a while... I went to the market with Shazi, Tonam, my personal caretaker from boyhood, and other servants...
"I heard there are a lot of unique stone items from all around the world accessible here"... I told Tonam... My goal was to purchase some souvenirs for Everich at the palace.
"Yes, let's get something for my sisters, King and Ellanora"... I was overjoyed and began searching for souvenirs like a youngster. Shazi and others were following me. I espy a lovely leather belt gilded and gem embellishments... I took it in my hands and marvelled at its beauty...
"Is it to your taste?" Young man?" ... A middle-aged man was the vendor.
"It appeals to me... "How much does it cost?" ... I inquired.
"Could you tell me where you're from?" That vendor queried.
"Uran"… I responded.
"Ohhh… Uran, the Great... You're Uranian... Wonderful! Then you'll have to spend 500 Uranian Gold for it... Because it's made of leather from wild mountain foxes, gold, and gems like ruby, emerald, and pearl," he continued, his toothless mouth glistening.
"500 Uranian Gold... a little expensive?" ... I attempted to bargain...
"Sorry, young chap*... 500 Uranian Gold or no belt." The vendor grinned...
"Haaa"… I felt defeated and became competitive... "OK... 500 Uranian Gold it is... But may I inquire where you're from?" ... I enquired of him.
"It's Donkyil," he replied.
"Donkyil… hmm… So, our 500 Uranian Gold Coins are equivalent to 1000 Donkyil Gold Coins... You are indeed a genius... Seller."
The vendor gave me a guilty look... "We're all in it for the daily bread, young chap"... He said sternly, "I can find many suitable bidders for the belt, so please leave if you don't have enough money."
"Verray, that is why I am offering you the final price... 250 Uranian Gold... Sell it to me or not... your choice"... I smiled...
The vendor sighed... "No" he countered me with another grin
"You demand 500 gold coins, but I only have 250... If I handed you my 250 gold coins, you would receive 500 gold coins when you return to Donkyil, so why worry... sell it to me"... I attempted to bargain once again...
The merchant smiled and tilted his head as he observed me... "very well, I think you're a bit smart"... He said, "Take it"... I paid 250 Uranian gold for the leather belt.
"How was it, Shazi?" ... I gave Shazhi the same proud smile I had when I accomplished my training at the palace...
"Good work! Prince! Huh!" … Shazi answered with a glum frown.
"What!... why?.. I did really well, right?" ... Arrgghh…
"You fell straight into his snare, Prince... He just tricked you; that belt is only worth 200 uranian gold. You will bargain to reduce it to half by stating 500... Then he accepts it... You will have the delight of purchasing that item for half the price, and he will receive an additional 50 gold coins... Fair-trade"... HAHAHA… Shazi burst out laughing like a wild.
"WHAT! How did you figure that out?"... I inquired, perplexed.
"You and your brother are the same"... HAHAHA… He laughed at me again...
"I'm going to behead the swindler vendor... How dare he?" ... I clenched my sword hilt and prepared to repay...
"You lost Esa, and that seller won... A good ruler must first recognise his failures, as your brother stated when he discovered he had been deceived here"... Shazi's remarks caused me to pause and grin...
"Fine… But they're not going to trick me again"... Hhaha… I moved onward, remorseful.
Shazi grinned and then followed me... I was irritated at Shazi, so I hurriedly moved away with Tonam, attempting to blend in with the crowd. But then I came to a halt and grew wary... Someone seemed to be monitoring us... I noticed Shazi touching the hilt of his sword... He took a step toward me. But suddenly the fabric sunshades of stores began to tumble down as someone synchronised cutting them down... Shazi, sensing danger, dashed towards me... Suddenly, a wolf-masked person with a sword sprang in front of him... I realised it was to cast him away from me… He didn't have any option but to fight that man. They began sword combat while Tonam and I were encircled by wolf-masked warriors.
"Your Highness, we must return, now" Tonam replied, his voice shaken...
"Tonam, go hide behind that fruit cart... I'll deal with it"... I drew my sword and gripped it in both hands, then stood ready to attack... The masked men, on the other hand, kneeled down in front of me, mystifying my entire body.
"What? What exactly is this? ... Why are you bowing before me? Who are you?" ... I questioned...
"Our King... Uran's rightful King... Esanael Yakul Allblaze... After all these years, I've finally met you... My nephew..." A middle-aged man wearing an eye patch approached...
"Who are you? ... nephew? Who?" The scenario had me baffled.
"My name is Donte Hollip, and I'm a noble lord from Uran. You might not recognise me... But you know Darta Yakul Allblaze, my sister... "Your mother," he stated confidently.
"You… "You are".... I glanced furiously at him... "You're my uncle... You're the one who deceived and murdered my father... You, traitor!" I sprang towards Donte with my sword... However, he easily avoided it...
"Hahahaha…. What? .. betrayed? .. Killed? ... Who? ... Me? ... Is that something your sister instilled in you? That conniving witch... the murderer of your mother... She taught you these...verray?" ... Donate stamped his foot fiercely on the ground.
"Who are you referring to?" I inquired, perplexed once more...
"Who else … Your beneficent King... Uran's Great King... Osires Yakul Allblaze's oldest son... Canael Yakul Allblaze... that lowest tribal blood... HER!" …. Donte exclaimed confidently...
"What? My brother is a lady, King...? She's my sister? What are you on about?" ... Nothing made sense to me...
"See, Esa... you know nothing... you've been deceived for 19 years by that cunning fox... She murdered your mother and abducted you on the second day of your life... She is the one who assassinated your other uncle, my brother, who attempted to reclaim you and falsely accused me of betraying my own country... Because you were the sole male child... She would have become Queen if you hadn't been born... So she raised you because it was the only way she could dominate... Since you don't know anything... she can manipulate you... she can influence you... hence the Great Uran's dominion"... Donte stated everything with all his strength... "She's exploiting you, Esa… Join me in reclaiming what is rightly yours and avenging our family... Esa, join me"... "Come with your uncle"... Donte extended his hand toward me, a hopeful expression on his face...
Hearing all of it, I was stunned and transfixed, and I stood there mute... I was unable to move or speak... After overcoming that man he was battling with, Shazi came screaming my name... Donte placed his mask back on after seeing Shazi from afar...
"Esa… I'll wait for your response... My companion in the royal court is a man named Folin Ross... If you wish to reach me, you must ask him... If you don't believe me, ask your so-called King those questions"... Donte and his disguised comrades fled from there, after all... In the jungle, like monkeys, they vanish swiftly.
Tonam approached from his hiding place... "Your Highness"... He expressed his worries...
"Tonam, what you just heard will stay with us... No third ear." ... I responded, surprised and unsure.
"Yes, Your Highness"… he answered
"Esa…. Esa… Are you all right? .. Who was it, exactly? "Did you sustain any injuries?" ... Shazi was apprehensive and inquired.
"Yes, I'm OK... They were merely bandits who witnessed us buying that leather belt with Uranian Gold, so we had a minor brawl"... I lied to Shazi, panting...
"Yeah… "If that's the case, then let's go"...
"All right... let's go"... I had a check at Tonam... He recognised what my eyes were saying and continued to follow me as if nothing had occurred.
At dawn, we began our trek back to Uran. But my head was filled with jumbled thoughts... So many questions flooded my mind. I couldn't come up with any solutions for them... The image of the King sprang to my mind, with his warm and kind countenance... What exactly does this imply? .. Is this all true, Your Majesty... brother? .. No, how can I believe a stranger's comments, even if he is my uncle? He is a traitor... I need to discover answers... Now I can't tell anyone... On my journey, I thought to myself. I left Yathri with a firm determination to seek the truth.
