Capítulo 4: Lilith

Amon did the first thing that he needed to do in his job as a Grim Reaper. He first assessed the woman's soul, and oddly, he wasn't able to talk to her briefly unlike how he usually talked to souls he had helped.

The woman's soul just nodded and then went away after they stared at each other for a brief moment. How odd that Amon felt that it's as if the woman who died and gave birth knew that this is to happen.

Maybe it's just his imagination, but with him also not being able to see how she lived her life, it made him wonder if she is something special for her to cross over without knowing if she's going to Elysion, or going to Gehenna.

"Waaah! Waaaah!"

The Grim Reaper snapped out of his thoughts. With him remembering that there is a baby at the foot of the woman's corpse, he put his mask on first, before turning to look at the baby who was wailing.

Of course, the infant is covered in blood for being brought into this world. As the panic is still with him, he wondered how to handle babies.

"Aaah... what should I do..."

Amon groaned and did a face palm. With him letting out a confused sigh, he became more worried when the baby cried louder compared to before.

"How can I shut this up? Can't it die? Shall I kill it?"

Amon is conflicted. With his job getting dead souls, he wondered what he could do for this child. He plans on leaving the baby by the doorstep of orphanages, but somehow, he felt that the woman earlier—her look was saying that the baby is in his hands.

"Ugh..."

Amon watched the crying infant on the floor. With it still wailing, he furrowed his brows wondering why he felt a sense of responsibility over this newborn baby.

"Damn me..."

Amon knelt down, further assessing the infant. With him seeing a blanket close to him, he gently carried the baby. As he wiped the body, he noticed that the infant is a girl. Thus, as he further examined the baby girl, she calmed down, and she noticed something different.

The color of the girl's hair is slightly different. The baby's hair seemed light blue. Is that even possible? He didn't know if it's because of the lighting of the house being illuminated by the moonlight.

He looked at the corpse of the woman who gave birth, but noticed that her hair is naturally brown. Amon ignored it for a moment and thought to himself that maybe it is indeed because of the lighting.

The baby further calmed down. With the infant no longer crying, she instead tried to open both of her eyes. Amon didn't expect this baby to be so energetic right after being born into this world. Usually, babies are asleep right after they are born, right?

However... what surprised him more, are her eyes!

The baby girl has yellow for her left eye, and the right eye, green.

It made Amon blink his eyes a few times in amazement, mumbling to himself as he continued to look at the baby wrapped around in his arms for safety.

"She has... heterochromia?"

The baby in his arms then slept right after opening its eyes for a brief moment. With Amon slowly standing up, he furrowed his brows in wonder as he thought to himself.

'Having blue-like hair... having heterochromia but one of it a rare eye color that no one ever has... yellow... is that even possible?'

Amon found himself puzzled. With him thinking about the infant that he is carrying, he then let out a sigh as he wondered how he could raise her.

'Does that mean I have to bring her to Gehenna?' Amon cautiously stared at the baby, making sure that they won't have long eye contact so he won't affect her with his powers. 'I could kill you right now but then again, I know it's not right.'

Amon then stared out the window, looking at the bright full moon on the sky as he continued talking to himself in his thoughts.

'I can also leave you to any orphanage found in any place of this world... but I feel that your mother has left me with a great responsibility. I don't know why, but I know I'll regret it if I don't honor how she looked at me, asking me for a dying favor.'

The Grim Reaper then looked at the sleeping baby once more. As another sigh escaped his lips, he then shook his head as he decided right here and then on what to do.

'Fine... I have no choice but take you to Gehenna.'

The baby continued sleeping peacefully in his arms. With him realizing that the baby is yet to have a name, he thought to himself what he could give her.

"Savannah? Dennise? Amber? Genevive?"

As Amon mumbled names to himself, he found himself scrunching his nose in disapproval. He knows that he is the one who thought of the names, but neither one of what he said did he appreciate for the baby girl.

"Damn... I'll be taking her to Gehenna with me, but even giving her a name is difficult,' he mumbled to himself, still looking at the baby through his cow-head mask.

Amon thought of the mystery of this baby girl being brought into the world. Upon inspection, he really confirmed that her hair is indeed light blue and that the memory of her eyes a moment ago were unique.

With these physical attributes unusual and at the same time mystical for a baby like her, Amon wanted to have a unique name for her.

However, thinking that it is the night, Amon thought of a sudden name out of whim to give her.

"Lilith..."

Amon just blurted it out all of a sudden. Even though Lilith means "night monster", he didn't care much about the meaning, but how it sounded right on his tongue upon saying the name.

Somehow, the name suited her.

"Lilith."

Amon said the name once again, now further confirming it as her name before he teleported himself back to the Kingdom of Gehenna after doing his job as a Grim Reaper.
