"How many of them are up there?" Connor asked as Kyle and Claire returned to the storage building.
"Too many," Kyle responded. "She seems to think that I killed about fifty, but it feels like I haven't even put a dent into their numbers. My rifle's practically dry, so I don't know how much more help I'm going to be until we can get back."
"How many of them were there?" Connor asked, turning his attention to Claire. "Any idea of a definitive number?"
"Not exactly, but I'd guess somewhere around a few hundred. No more than five hundred, that much I'm almost certain of."
"Do you know if there's still any survivors anywhere else other than the apartment building or inside the mines?" he asked, this time directing the question at the wounded miners.
"Doubt it. They cut through us quickly before going in there themselves, but they made sure to kill us if they saw us," one of the miners answered in a bitter tone.
