Someone pressed the rewind button.
I was back in that playground with the crowd sound effect buzzing in my ears. When I tried to locate the rest of my body, I felt as if I was in two places at the same time.
It wasn't mental confusion; it was a complete separation. I was a spectator, observing how the chest that wasn't mine got pressed again and again by some invisible force. The movement over it was methodical and unhurried. Done with great amounts of patience and persistence.
Done with care.
I wondered who would care about a nameless thing like me. It was funny how I finally looked the part.
A freak.
But then something changed. I observed a bit closer as my body felt the warm water gushing through my snout.
Was this the second round of drowning then?
I was fascinated by the amount of water that continued coming through, I knew that my body was complaining, but I couldn't register pain. It was just continuous pressure over my ribcage as it never stopped heaving.
This will be a tricky arc; hope you’ll enjoy it!
Let me know what you think about the new cover and don’t forget to vote if you liked it! And yes! The tattoo on Theo's back is the same tattoo that Sophie has on her thigh, he will get that done down the road, but that will be a different story for a different day :)
