"My head hurts so much!"

William Shale opened his eyes, finding himself in a narrow, cramped basement. Above, a flickering light bulb cast a yellowish glow, constantly changing in brightness.

Surrounding him were tall wooden shelves, filled with wooden barrels.

"This is... the wine cellar under the bar? How did I end up here?"

William looked confused, tried to touch his forehead but found himself tightly bound to a high-back chair, unable to move.

"Help!"

He yelled, but there was no response from the outside.

"Wait... it's Balkin! It's Balkin!"

William recalled fragments from before he passed out; after the bar closed, he had finished mopping the floor when Balkin handed him a beer with a smile...

"Why would Balkin drug my drink... What's his purpose in knocking me out?"

William became more and more afraid.

If he was just an ordinary person, he'd consider himself penniless and of no interest to anyone.
