I was getting sucked deeper and deeper by the unfamiliar emptiness as days passed without hearing from Xavier. I stared at the bite mark on my neck in the mirror. I felt an urge to scratch it off as it was getting red and itchy with each passing day.

I did not possess a wolf, hence was oblivious to fathom the emotions surging through my veins day and night. Void deep in my heart, I did not know how to fill it.

Jenkin came to meet me twice after the first day. He was the only way to keep track of everything that was going on in the vampire realm.

"The Ministry of Finance and internal affairs attended the ancient lord's butler, Arendt's party last week," Jenkin said. Clouds of ominous thoughts encircled my mind.

"Now the nobles are daring to bare their teeth." I clenched my fists. "How is father doing?" I asked.
