Capítulo 124: THE SMELL
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED TWENTY FOUR
After dinner, they went to Feifei's house. From there, Yuan asked him to close his eyes again.
When Feifei next opened his eyes, they were in front of an abandoned house. Around them were trees and endless darkness.
"Are we in the mountains?"
"Yes, the deeper mountains."
"There is actually a house here?" Feifei asked with amazement on her face.
The ones who lived here dare to live in the deeper parts of the woods? Aren't they afraid of being eaten alive by wild beasts?
"Its an old hunters house."
"I see." Feifei nodded in understanding.
"Stay still."
Yuan waved his hand and a warm white light surrounded the area around them like gauze.
"What is this for?"
"To prevent others from hearing."
Feifei smiled. "Would anyone dare wander the forest at this late at night?"
"There are three flesh eaters here."
Feifei stiffened.
Yuan took Feifei's hands and wrapped them around his waist. Then he wrapped his arms around Feifei's.
"Listen well. All flesh eaters are made from magic. From the Magic of Dark Arts. Before, these flesh eaters are non magical. But now, some of them possess dark magic. A magic that can duplicate their victims face and voice. Once they eat their victims, they can incorporate the victims into themselves."
Feifei gasped as he held Yuan's waist tighter. Yuan kissed the top of Feifei's head.
"Some of this new breed of flesh eaters usually use the faces of children and old people. Sometimes they use important faces of those who are in power. Like what is happening in the country Gyffes. Gyffes is now riddled with both human and new breeds of flesh eaters."
"I have only just began investigating their movements. And it was only recently that I obtained this crucial information. I don't know to what extent this new breeds of flesh eaters have infiltrated government offices. But what I know is, they have already positioned themselves in some important ranks."
"That's why I'm forcing you to face this flesh eaters now. Its for you to know how to identify them. To distinguish them from humans. Baby, some flesh eaters appear like cute young children." Yuan stared hard at Feifei.
Feifei is so soft hearted. This softness will be his weakness. Or it could be his strength. It depends on how he weilds it.
"Please.. Don't think of them as pitiful children. They are only using the appearance of the children they killed. Inside this human flesh are monsters."
Feifei gripped Yuan's shirt into tight fists.
"I...a child?"
"Yes."
"We caught three. If your ready, I will bring you inside now."
"Yuan..." Feifei's voice trembled.
"I...I haven't seen a flesh eater yet."
"You will soon meet them."
"I'm scared."
Yuan kissed Feifei's forehead.
"I'm here. I won't let anyone hurt you." Yuan promised in a firm, unyielding voice that is laced with absolute power.
Feeling Yuan's power embracing him like a warm cocoon, Feifei's body relaxed.
"The three flesh eaters are housed separately. Let's go visit them one by one."
"Okay."
Yuan stared at Feifei for a moment. Then he cupped Feifei's face.
"I'm sorry, baby. I'm sorry I have to let you go through this."
"What your doing is right. I need to know them. Or I will be killed without even knowing it was them dressed like humans."
"You won't be killed!" Yuan growled.
Feifei jumped at Yuan's malevolent voice. He stroked Yuan's chest as he buried his face on Yuan's neck.
"I'm sorry. I won't say things like that again."
Yuan stared at Feifei then he took Feifei's hand in his.
"Let's go."

The closer they get to the abandoned house, the more Feifei heard the rustles of chains.
The cringe-inducing sound of chains scraping against the wooden floor is like the sound of a knife scratching a plate.
The squeaky sound is so grating that it sends cold shivers right down to his spine. And he hasn't seen the flesh eater yet.
He held on to Yuan's hand tighter.
"Don't worry, baby. I have wrapped you within a protective bubble. You are safe."
Feifei looked at Yuan and forced out a smile.
Despite knowing he is wrapped with a shield of some kind, it still doesn't prevent him from being afraid.
Its the fear of the unknown.
When they were a couple of steps away, Feifei was blown away by the smell coming from the abandoned house.
The smell reminds him of a thousand wriggling maggots on a bloody meat and a sickening odor of rotten fish and gills.
The more they move closer to the abandoned house, the more foul and revolting the smell becomes.
Feifei wants to vomit.
He can actually taste the rancid smell in his mouth. Its like having stomach acid after a drunken night. The acid that burns your throat and into your mouth then comes out as a green, putrid vomit.
That is the taste the smell evoked in him. Its even making him sick.
"Yuan what is that sickening smell?"
"That's the smell of a flesh eater in its true form."
"W..what? Just the smell alone could kill anyone!"
Yuan stroked Feifei's hair. Then they continued to walk. When they were finally at the door, Feifei held Yuan's hand.
Yuan glanced at Feifei with an eyebrow raised.
"Wait."
Feifei can hear groans and snake-like hiss then the sound of chains and bone cracking. The sound alone is blood curdling. And he hasn't seen a flesh eater yet!
"The flesh eater here is stripped of his facade. This is their true form."
