"You don't understand. That dog needs to be put down. It took a bite out of me" the boy told him.

Conrad was uninterested in having that conversation with him. He wondered why he couldn't see that because everything about his posture screamed that he was uncomfortable and annoyed.

The dog turned to look at Conrad like it was pleading for its innocence.

He blinked.

 If he could muster a smile, Conrad would have but he couldn't. So, he settled for rubbing his head like he was saying, 'I know. Sometimes when our backs are pushed against the wall, we push back. Afterall, hurt people hurt other people.

"Are you going to hand him over to me, Conrad?"

Conrad's face was blank. And he stared at Ian with equally blank eyes.

Ian waited for him to say something but Conrad didn't.
